Ah, Purim. The Jewish version of Mardi Gras. A festival of masquerade, drinking, and pastries. What could possibly go wrong when you mix alcohol, sugar, and costumes in large quantities?

Post away your reports from this past weekend.

My lady and I were pulling together our first ever couples' costume. We settled on going as a frum (black-hat Orthodox Jewish, kinda looks like :m: ) couple. Then a friend suggested we go as a cross-dressed frum couple.

Hilarity, foot pain, and several exclamations of "Oh my G-D!!!" ensued.

Once every few years, someone has the chutzpah to pull off this kind of outfit. Two years ago, the rabbi pulled this stunt. If he hadn't, I sure wouldn't have done so.

I don't drink, so I probably can't give you a proper DTP after-action report.

However, I can report that my daughter came home from the kids' Purim carnival with a goldfish again. It's still alive, which is a good sign.

Shouldn't Fenris be here? Everybody's favorite pork cooking Jew?

And who knew you guys were MOTs?

I am drinking tonight to make up for my lack of participation before. My wife did bake her normal 1000 or so hamentashen. OK that spelling looks wrong but all the spell check options are much worse. (sacramental?)

Feel The Guilt; Embrace The Guilt.
That's the compare and contrast between Judaism and Catholic.

Catholics are born with sin and go to services to learn about their guilt.
Jews are born with guilt and go to services to learn about their sins.

Catholics can eat their meat but not play with it.

Jews can play with their meat but not eat it.

I thought it was:
Catholics don't have to follow the rules so long as they believe what they're told.
Jews don't have to believe what they're told, so long as they follow the rules.

Happy Purim 5772! :drugnerd:

With my present situation I only needed the slightest bit of Bailey's liqueur last night.

The rabbi (same one as I discussed in the OP from a year ago) showed up as a tropical lady with ukelele. It was scary.

My lady and I were doing good just to show up.

My friend refers to Purim as Pour 'em.

You broke my brain :astonished:

Just think, next year you'll be able to indoctrinate Scuba Baby into all the fun :science:

Lots of people's brains suffered stress fractures last night. The alcohol was to help repair the cracks.

Technically, this year counted as a first pass at indoctrinating Scuba Baby into the fun, with baby's first hamentashen.
