This is a win, 'cuz if he voted he is inclined to vote for Trump. So, I have argued with him of course to no avail...he does not see my point of view - which is fine, he doesn't have to, but as far as I'm concerned, I would rather see him as someone who is not willing to vote for Biden, but can't quite bring himself to vote for Trump either. I suspect that there are probably more people like him than we imagine. I've always thought that there is not an issue with 'undecided voters'...so much as there's an issue with people who haven't decided whether they're going to vote at all. And I'm inclined to think there are more people who will choose to just not vote at all. "undecided' just means I don't like either choice and I'm going to abstain. Fine, that's their choice - and as far as I'm concerned, abstaining is still better than voting for Trump.

That was me in 2016. I wasn't undecided. I was very decided. I couldn't vote for either. So I sat out. I am not making that mistake again. I don't love Biden. But I have voted for him.

About a third of them what can vote don’t, this is an improvement from just under half of eligible voters not casting ballots. You’ll know it’s over when 95% of the population votes and the opposition always comes back as 2%.

Thousands of people have fought and died for his right to not vote. Get off his back. Yeah, I'm glad he's not voting for trump, and yeah I'm sad he's not voting Biden. But it's his choice.

When I hear about 'undecided voters', I don't think these are people who don't know who to vote for - I think these are mostly people, like my brother, who haven't decided whether they are going to vote at all. These are people who think both sides are equally bad/evil or neither side will make a difference in their life. These are people who are shrinking back from all political discourse, clutching their pearls and actually believing that their vote doesn't matter anyway. These are people who have always abstained and now they are still abstaining, but are starting to feel guilty about it. Like...maybe they should make a choice? But they don't want to make a choice, they don't want to risk being wrong. I can relate to that. But it's time now...it's time to choose, no matter how much you fear commitment. I would like to be able to say "I don't care who you vote for, I just want you to vote!" But that wouldn't be really true. I do care who you vote for because that's going to affect me. So I don't feel bad that I'm okay with someone who leans trump deciding not to vote at all. I'd rather you don't vote at all than vote for trump.

If you really can't bring yourself to vote for either flavor of shit sammich at the top of the ticket, at least vote for a third party that most closely aligns with your interests. The electoral college will do what it do so it will not matter a lick if you decline to add your drop to a full bucket, but it could make all the difference in the world to get viable third and fourth parties over the hump to guaranteed ballot and debate access and access to federal matching funds. Voting third party also sends a very clear and pointed "none of the above is worth a shit to me" message as well to the dominant duopoly which has basically decided they can safely say a thundering "fuck YOU" to anything of actual interest to a normal, average American citizen. Unaffiliated voters are THE largest voting bloc and need to flex their muscles to let both the blue and red MAGA shitferbrains know they'd better do SOMETHING to earn the votes of the group that WILL swing every fucking election from now to the foreseeable future. This is why I voted Green in '16 and again this year and why I will not join either party. I'm staying off all the fences so NOBODY can take my vote for granted. Earn it or fuck off, that's my position.

I voted Green in 2000. Hell I voted Bill the Cat in 1988.
But Trump losing and losing by a lot to detrone McConnell is more important than any disagreements I have with Biden and the Democratic Party.
I held my nose and voted Kerry/Edwards in 2004 and regret not voting for Al Gore in 2000. (not that it would have mattered, and voting Green was actually a repudiation of Bush/Cheney. I was still a republican and would have voted for McCain over Gore.
Clinton was an easy vote against Trump. I knew how bad Trump would be, sadly I was right.

This, especially if you live in a state that, like NY, gives automatic ballot access to third parties that get a sufficient number of votes in Pres and Gov elections every other year. Any time my preferred candidate has either got it sewn up or doesn't stand a chance, I vote third party. Or, like last time, when they're both shit sandwiches and I want to register a vote for 'none of the above'. Of course, last time Hillary won NY by a huge margin, so even if I had decided one or the other was the lesser evil, my vote wouldn't have helped or hurt either one, so I was actually doing both. This time, Biden's walking away with it in NY, so even though I think he's the lesser evil, by a huge margin, I'm still voting third party, just to help them out. I've got 3 choices, so I need to find a 3-sided coin to flip. :haw:

I could sort of, kind of, if I really really strained, understand not casting a vote for the president. But I do not AT ALL understand opting out of voting in the election as a whole, given all the downticket items. My ballot had a ton of shit on there impacting city, county and state -- things that have huge, real-life implications for life at the local level. Six about police reform, as an example.
When these people say they're not going to vote, do they really mean not vote at all?

Over the years, I have cast a third-party vote when neither candidate was to my liking. It beats not voting at all, and of course there are also local candidates who need our support (or ouster, as the case may be).
Of course, if someone doesn't want to vote, period, it's their right.

What about Canadians? Is it even fair to give them citizenship and the right to vote when their nation of origin already instilled a sense of civic duty?

I, for one, am delighted that third party voters and undecideds are NOT voting for Trump. I admit that I was beyond pissed that my FiL voted third party last time, when it actually would have mattered that he cast a mainstream vote. This time though, have at you. A vote not for Trump is a beautiful thing.

More than one Canadian actor or musician has made the transition from Canadian citizenship to become full fledged citizens of the United States of America and several are voting for the first time this year. So my question is, how is this remotely fair? Can’t we screen out the foreign influence of ingrained decency and civic duty by testing geographic awareness and rerouting anyone displaying competence? Some of these reprocessed Canucks grew up believing medical care is a basic human right, Shirley they will pull the nation further towards universal health care, won’t someone save our precious broken healthcare system and the insurance companies that made it the confusing melange of triple billing for fractional reimbursement that we have now?

Actually, I can't really say that yet. What I have done is fill out my ballot, with trepidation and anxiety for fear of doing 'the wrong thing'. But I'm reasonably intelligent and I can follow instructions, so I filled it out. And checked it repeatedly 'cuz I'm just that neurotic. But, I can't see where I went wrong and I figure most people who vote are less intelligent than me (I'm not trying to be smug or superior here - I've just learned in my 70 years that most people are really less intelligent than me - not that it's ever done me any good).
So, it's filled out. And then I had to fill out the secret inside envelope and do that right too. I've done what I can up to this point. It's an absentee ballot, but I will not trust it to the mail. I live 15 minutes away from my county drop box for ballots. That's what I'm going to do - take it to the drop box, and drop it - it's all I can do. Tomorrow. I'm an atheist and I still feel like saying 'god save us all'....

Dude, there's only one, lol. Well, from what I hear, there may be two now because so many people were utilizing it - but they're side by side, so it's the same location.
My cousin sent me a pic of her ballot box - she's in Oregon and the box was twice as big as your average mailbox. I live in the smallest county in my state and as for our ballot box, well...I've seen lunch boxes that were bigger ! I guess that's why they had to add another one!

The GOP in CA has been helpfully managing their own set of drop boxes. They have been asked to stop and have refused. bastards
