Anyone else watching Monday Night Football tonight? or at least drinking? (I know it's Monday, this is my Friday and football is on so fuck off!)

Go Steelers!

C'mon john, don't worry, I won't make you watch the game. :p

Euryphaessa
9th November 2009, 07:25 PM
I'm watching a scary movie but everyone I was talking to on MSN has disappeared. I'm skeered. :grossout:

HongKongFooey
9th November 2009, 07:31 PM
*sigh* There's nothing there now that wasn't there when you turned the lights off. Wait!? Wh-wh-what was that?

OK, now I'm scared too.

Euryphaessa
9th November 2009, 07:43 PM
I had to turn it off, there's just no way that's happening. I'm a wuss at the best of times; alone in the dark with visions of freaky naked bloody demon girls dancing through my head? FUCK. THAT. SHIT.

HongKongFooey

I'm out of the loop on movies not starring Barbie or Hannah Montana these days, what movie was it?

Euryphaessa
9th November 2009, 07:49 PM
It's called Martyrs, it's a French movie released last year (I think). I blog I read linked back to a review that basically said "Don't read this before you see the movie, because there's no way you can adequately appreciate the movie if you've been spoiled." So I got curious. I'm almost halfway through it, and it is disturbing and graphic, holy shit.

HongKongFooey
9th November 2009, 07:51 PM
You had me at disturbing...

Euryphaessa
9th November 2009, 07:53 PM
It's a very compelling story, in my opinion. I was enjoying it until all of a sudden everybody left. :p

HongKongFooey
9th November 2009, 07:58 PM
Left? or disappeared? :foil:

So is there a plot to the story or is it just gore and suspense? Not that there's anything wrong with gore and suspense but sometimes you want a bit more from a movie.

Euryphaessa
9th November 2009, 08:09 PM
Yeah, there's definitely a plot, but the body of the movie so far has taken place in a pretty short period of time with these flashbacks letting you know why the main character is doing what she's doing.

Okay, I can do this. There's only 45 minutes left.

Don't leave me!

HongKongFooey
9th November 2009, 08:12 PM
You won't be alone for a while; two of my kids are up with me now.

This isn't how I pictured the DTP progressing.

Euryphaessa
9th November 2009, 08:13 PM
You know what? I'm okay with that. We don't need john and buff to turn this into a party.

Oh god, scary noise. WHY DID YOU GO DOWN THERE, YOU MORON?!

bufftabby
9th November 2009, 08:15 PM
Fine then. :p

HongKongFooey
9th November 2009, 08:15 PM
I love horror movies. I can't remember the last good one I saw though.

Hey, buff. Am I too late to return the Clutch inspired high-five? Your taste in music rawks.

Euryphaessa
9th November 2009, 08:20 PM
DON'T LEAVE, BUFF! I NEED ALL THE PEOPLE AROUND ME I CAN GET.

This is so disturbing.

Are you referring to the Clutch who did Electric Worry? 'Cause that is a great song.

bufftabby
9th November 2009, 08:23 PM
The first time I ever heard Clutch, I was seeing them live at Bonnaroo. They kick ass live.

HongKongFooey
9th November 2009, 08:23 PM
Yep, that's them all right. Re: Electric Worry.

bufftabby
9th November 2009, 08:27 PM
Hey guys, did you see my kickass flyer I posted at the end of the last DTP? I didn't think so. Hold on, lemme go get it.

Yes, that's actual fabric sewn around the edges.

God.

Fucking.

Dammit!

Have to admit the Steelers were by far the better team tonight. Shut down the Broncos' offense for the whole game and spent much of the second half moving the ball at will on the Denver defense.

That sucked.

Steelers were the better team, but I hate Hate HATE HATE HATE watching the Broncos lose to the Steelers, whom I loathe and despise.

Euryphaessa
9th November 2009, 08:30 PM
Yes, I did see the flyer! That looks so awesome. Are you going to do anything with the original or just use the photocopies?

I only know of Clutch because that song is on the new Left 4 Dead trailer, but I really like the sound.

Also, PLOT TWIST. That is all.

I've seen many scary movies that have surprised, startled or possibly even shocked me. I don't think I've seen anything (at least in my adult life) that has left me spooked/scared (when I was a young lad, my father & brother and I watched John Carpenter's The Thing in an afternoon. After that, they proceeded on to Poltergeist. When chairs started moving I hit my limit).

That said, the only horror to make me turn on lights in the gathering gloom has been Lovecraft's stuff.

Steelers were the better team, but I hate Hate HATE HATE HATE watching the Broncos lose to the Steelers, whom I loathe and despise. It was a closer game than the score indicated, at least it would have been. I think the Broncos defense has looked great but the offense seemed to be due for a day like this. Dick Lebeau baited them all night with three deep zones. He was essentially telling them he didn't believe Orton could keep making good reads and maintain accuracy for entire drives. Mike Nolan is doing a great job with Denver's D though.

Also, PLOT TWIST. That is all.Well done.

Nice poster buff!

I went flyering on campus with 50 black and whites today, and following up with more tomorrow, but either tomorrow or Wednesday, I'm posting up some color copies too. Then, Thursday, I'm gonna hand out some handbills, as yet to be designed. It's all total guerilla promoting too, as nobody at the station actually asked me to or even knows I'm flyering. I'm following all the campus rules about such things though, so nobody gets in trouble. I like to do good stuff all secret-like. It gives me warm fuzzies. I think it's like the opposite of a martyr complex or something.

Euryphaessa

Sweet, unsanctioned advertising. I like it.

bufftabby
9th November 2009, 08:51 PM
Well, I did have to get 10 or so sanctioned by the University via rubber stamp, so. We've got two buildings that require it, and will actively remove postings without the stamp. The other 42 though, man, totally rogue. ;) My goal tomorrow is to get the insides of as many bathroom stalls as possible. I got the ones at work, and it makes me happy every time I go pee.

What the fuck did I just watch?

HongKongFooey
9th November 2009, 09:09 PM
Pssst...pretty sure it was Martyrs.

Euryphaessa
9th November 2009, 09:11 PM
Seriously, watch this movie. It's so completely different than anything I've ever seen.

HongKongFooey
9th November 2009, 09:17 PM
I fully intend to. You have me intrigued.

Scared? No. Spooked? A few times. When Dark City came out, I was working at a movie theater and the managers arranged an after-hours showing the night before release. After the whole 'William Hurt floating off into space' scene, it was a little eerie walking out of the theater at 3AM. The feeling faded pretty quickly.

The first time I saw The Ring, I was sufficiently creeped out. Not 'afraid to turn out the lights/can't go to sleep' creeped out, but disturbed enough that affected my dreams that night. Same goes for Event Horizon.

Can't say anything else has had any impact.

Well, I'm not gonna sleep tonight! Who's ready to party?

Euryphaessa
9th November 2009, 09:26 PM
john, watch this movie. It will defy every expectation you may have for a horror movie.

Alright, I'll get off my new soapbox now. :p

Euryphaessa
9th November 2009, 09:28 PM
Oh! How was DEVO?

john ingram
9th November 2009, 09:28 PM
I don't have time for no stinking movies.

You'll have to remind me after NaNoWriMo. Tonight was the only night I scheduled off for the whole month to indulge in non-writing activities.

john ingram
9th November 2009, 09:32 PM
Alright. I'm going to have one beer, then I'm off to bed.

bufftabby
9th November 2009, 09:35 PM
So, john, what do you think?

Be more specific.

bufftabby

The flyer? I like it. It has a very Sex Pistols DIY quality to it. My only suggestion would have been to make the information more prominent so that it doesn't get lost in the design. The first thing you want people to see is the WHAT, WHERE and WHEN, because that is really the most important part of a flyer.

bufftabby
9th November 2009, 10:01 PM
Yeah, it kinda is the busiest flyer ever. But I'm okay with that. Flyers around here tend to be, really. I'm actually working on another one right now. It will be more clear, but that's not why I'm making it.

john ingram
9th November 2009, 10:03 PM
Why are you making it, then?

And is that your handwriting on the flyer?

bufftabby
9th November 2009, 10:06 PM
For kicks, john. For kicks.

No, that's not my handwriting. I wish it were. I'm a bit messy.

john ingram
9th November 2009, 10:09 PM
Just for kicks?

john ingram
9th November 2009, 10:12 PM
Fuck. I give up on the internet tonight. My ISP is making it impossible.

Makes me long for dial up...

bufftabby
9th November 2009, 10:12 PM
...And photocopying and distribution, yes.

john ingram
9th November 2009, 10:15 PM

bufftabby

You should just shave one quadrant of your face.

Euryphaessa
9th November 2009, 10:22 PM
We'd never know the difference!
