View Full Version : Tuesday nights are for drinking: A DTP

john ingram
24th November 2009, 09:35 PM
Just finished my NaNoWriMo goal for the night. I'm up to 35,001 words. If I can hit my 2,500 words/day goal for the rest of the month, I will finish on time.

Got a tad intoxicated in the process. Anyone else drinking tonight? Did the 'Canes win?

Euryphaessa
24th November 2009, 10:20 PM
'Canes didn't play.

People need to quit fucking with me. I'm not drinking, but I wish I was.

john ingram
24th November 2009, 10:23 PM
I'm not fucking with you. But I did stop drinking.

Euryphaessa
24th November 2009, 10:25 PM
No, never you. Why did you stop? Drinking, that is.

john ingram
24th November 2009, 10:26 PM
It's late. I'm sufficiently drunk. And I'm getting ready for the lovely embrace of my soft bed.

Euryphaessa
24th November 2009, 10:32 PM
I've become nocturnal and I had excessive amounts of caffeine today. Sleep isn't happening.

john ingram
24th November 2009, 10:35 PM
Sounds like it's time for movies!

Euryphaessa
24th November 2009, 10:39 PM
What should I watch?

john ingram
24th November 2009, 10:42 PM
Anything entertaining.

Euryphaessa
24th November 2009, 10:46 PM
That's nothing tonight. I think I'll listen to Rammstein and think angry thoughts.

john ingram
24th November 2009, 10:51 PM
Yes! Angry thoughts!

Euryphaessa
24th November 2009, 10:54 PM
Eh, I can't muster up the energy to open iTunes.

bufftabby
24th November 2009, 11:14 PM
I'm exhausted. Had an adventurous evening last night, muddled through work, smoked too many cigarettes, and went out to the bar directly afterward with my new BFF. I've got a lot on my mind, and somehow sleep ain't it.

Euryphaessa
24th November 2009, 11:23 PM
Sleep is for the weak!

bufftabby
24th November 2009, 11:28 PM
Yeah, I'm going with some Joy Wants Eternity and a nice bowl to round out tonight's revelries instead.

Euryphaessa
24th November 2009, 11:29 PM
Nevermind.

bufftabby
24th November 2009, 11:32 PM
I never nevermind.

Euryphaessa
24th November 2009, 11:36 PM
I did my first VoicePrint show today!

bufftabby
24th November 2009, 11:39 PM
Excitement!

Euryphaessa
24th November 2009, 11:43 PM
'Twas. The guy I was recording with complimented me, I was pleased.

Euryphaessa
24th November 2009, 11:48 PM
Well, I guess I'm weak, I'm going to go to bed. Good night!

bufftabby
24th November 2009, 11:51 PM
I'm sure the fun-ness of it is similar to my radio thing. I like when people enjoy it. It's neat.

bufftabby
24th November 2009, 11:52 PM
AHH! SLEEPER!

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 06:45 PM
Is there anybody out there?

Hunter Hawk
25th November 2009, 07:01 PM
I'm out here...meatloaf is cooling, I'm sipping on apricot liqueur and listening to the American folk music show on KEXP. Lots of different takes on things like "Stagger Lee", "In the Pines", and so forth.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 07:06 PM
AHHH! SO JEALOUS! That sounds like a great show. I play a lot of that sort of thing myself.

I'm making meatlessloaf myself for tomorrow. I'm hoping it will be good, but I'm also sure I'll be the only one who really eats it, and I'm not terribly picky besides my bans on meats and sweets.

Hunter Hawk
25th November 2009, 07:07 PM
They stream on their web site (http://www.kexp.org). At some point, it should also get posted on the 2-week archive.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 07:14 PM
Sweeet.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 07:22 PM
I'm here. I should be writing, but I'm cooking and being angsty in a thread I should have walked away from days ago.

Beer is definitely taking place, though.

I just tried the Trader Joe's lightly salted green bean snax. They're kinda meh. I might like them better if they were saltier or had some kind of spices on them, but in their current form they're pretty bland.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 07:29 PM
I've had a splendid day. It was so sunny and nice here.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 07:32 PM
Hmm, are those like snap pea crisps? I love those things.

I've had a splendid day. It was so sunny and nice here.

I'm glad to hear things are running on a more positive note for you. But I'm intrigued; tell me, what is this "sunny" of which you speak?

I tend to avoid any food that employs gratuitous use of the letter 'x'.

Candy is good. Sensitive teeth are bad. :sciencefail:

Oh, today was pretty much the bestest. Sunshine and kittens and e'erthing!

"Sunny" is something that happens a lot here in the South. You're missing out.

Hunter Hawk
25th November 2009, 07:42 PM
Hmm, are those like snap pea crisps? I love those things.
Sort of. They're literally just lightly salted fried green beans; the legume analogue to potato chips.

I tend to avoid any food that employs gratuitous use of the letter 'x'.
In fairness to TJ's, that was my term.

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 07:43 PM
Ooh, those sound kinda good, HH.

Solfy
25th November 2009, 07:44 PM

I like it when it rains. It means I don't have to paint outside.

Hunter Hawk

Candy is good. Sensitive teeth are bad. :sciencefail:
So just finely mince the candy, mix it with Mountain Dew, and chug it down. No teeth necessary! :science:

john ingram
25th November 2009, 07:45 PM
In fairness to TJ's, that was my term.

You're an evil, evil man.

Solfy
25th November 2009, 07:46 PM
Keep that up and it'll be no teeth left! :science:

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 07:47 PM
Brilliant! And when the teeth are gone, I'll just get some false ones and never have this problem again. Perfect!

Hunter Hawk
25th November 2009, 07:48 PM
Ooh, those sound kinda good, HH.
I like the concept; I'm just not overly thrilled with the execution. It might be worth experimenting with roasting green beans like you roast cauliflower so you can use olive oil and sea salt.

25th November 2009, 07:49 PM

Your blasphemy cannot diminish the awesomeness of my day!

Solfy
25th November 2009, 07:51 PM
Rain is AWESOME. You can't have sex during a thunderstorm without rain, and nothing is a better accompaniment to rolling over and sleeping in than a steady drizzle.

Is the awesomeness of your day related to the radio station by any chance?

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 07:55 PM
I'm thirsty. I wish there was a tiny raincloud that would rain directly into my mouth.

We went to Red Lobster for dinner because we had $50 in gift cards from reward points. It was really very good, and our waiter was excellent! I tipped him $30. And called the manager over and told him how good the food was and how good a job our waiter did.

I figger if I can bitch about the food, and not tip well at times - i need to brag on a server when he's excellent.

I had a split lobster tail, fried shrimp, and - OMG - peach-bourbon glazed, bacon-wrapped, grilled sea scallops. To die for!

Ealier we were playing Dark Side of the Moon on the new Bose surround Sound. Awesome!!!!

Now hubby is asleep in the recliner (who didn't know that?) ;)

Yeah, rain can be great too. But today was a sunshine kinda day.

Is the awesomeness of your day related to the radio station by any chance?

Nah. My station day is thursday, so I have to miss it this week. Next week will be my last one for the year, since it'll be Christmas break and all, but I should find out soon what day I'll have when work/school's back in. First things first though, I've got to pass the intern test. I've been studying more than I ever studied when I was actually in school, so I'm feeling pretty confident about it.

Check out Penzey's shallot salt (http://www.penzeys.com/cgi-bin/penzeys/p-penzeysshallotsalt.html)--it has a mindbogglingly amazing smell and my daughter makes a wicked stir fried green bean/shallot dish that establishes that green beans and shallots get along very, very well. It's also a very fine powder which would probably stick well to the beans. Worth a try, anyway.

I bought some sexy Bose earbuds a few weeks ago. Amazing.

Not to mention trusting!

yeah, honey, that's it--it's a raincloud, yep!

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 08:25 PM
I try. Too hard, really.

john ingram

I just set a new personal record on the little sudoku game on my Zune. It's about the only thing I use the thing for.

FTR, I really kinda suck at sudoku.

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 08:48 PM
I could never get into sudoku. I prefer word games to number games.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 08:56 PM
Yeah, me too. I suck with numbers.

Hunter Hawk
25th November 2009, 09:01 PM
When you have a Zune, it's kind of a Hobson's choice for game selection. The app store selection ain't exactly world-shaking in its variety.

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 09:14 PM
My phone has dice on it. You shake the phone and the dice roll. Very useful for playing 3-Man.

john ingram

My phone has dice on it.

If anything, I could say that your phone is rare!

john ingram
25th November 2009, 09:20 PM
I just registered on Seven's personal message board, so that I have some place to go when you all stop loving me.

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 09:20 PM
Is Fresh Prince old enough that a reference is funny or just outdated enough that a reference is lame?

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 09:21 PM
We'll never stop loving you, Ingram.

NEVER.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 09:30 PM
The last thing I need is another messageboard to waste time at.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 09:33 PM
Is Fresh Prince old enough that a reference is funny or just outdated enough that a reference is lame?

That's a matter of opinion. Fresh Prince references are always kosher in my book.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 09:34 PM
We'll never stop loving you, Ingram.

NEVER.

They always do. It's a fact.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 09:35 PM
The last thing I need is another messageboard to waste time at.

Oh, you'll register there if that's what it takes to stalk me. I have no doubt.

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 09:36 PM
Eh, no one loves me, so I don't have to be concerned with them stopping.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 09:37 PM
John, we need to talk.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 09:40 PM
Oh! I love talking!

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 09:49 PM
I'm afraid I'm going to be stalking someone else now, dear john.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 09:50 PM
Ah ha! See post #68.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 09:54 PM
I was posting in response to #68, so I have certainly seen it.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 09:55 PM
Self-fulfilling prophecy, or uncanny prediction?

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 09:56 PM
Ooh, who are you going to be stalking?

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 10:00 PM
Uncanny prediction.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 10:07 PM
Ooh, who are you going to be stalking?

Shh, you'll blow my cover.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 10:28 PM
Uncanny prediction.

Eh. It's really not an uncanny prediction when you're just stating the obvious.

:sciencefail:

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 10:31 PM
DON'T YOU WANT ME BABY?! DON'T YOU WANT ME, OOOOHHHH!

john ingram
25th November 2009, 10:35 PM
BUT EVEN THEN I KNEW I'D FIND A MUCH BETTER PLACE, EITHER WITH OR WITHOUT YOU

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 10:37 PM
THE FIVE YEARS WE'VE HAD HAVE BEEN SUCH GOOD TIMES, I STILL LOVE YOU

john ingram
25th November 2009, 10:38 PM
Bullshit.

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 10:38 PM
Yeah, I haven't known you for 5 years.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 10:38 PM
One more beer and then I'm fucking off for the night. I have to get my beauty rest so that I'm in prime shape to drink myself stupid tomorrow. Yay holidays!

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 10:42 PM
I think I'll take a day off tomorrow in celebration of American Thanksgiving.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 10:43 PM
I'm excited about seeing tiny people tomorrow that share some of my genes. Aunt Beefy is gonna be a busy girl.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 10:44 PM
I think you should, E. Demand holiday pay, too.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 10:47 PM
No, no, no. True Yankee style is to be forced to take the day off because the company owner wants the day off, but doesn't want to pay you for not working. That's how we do things here in the States.

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 10:47 PM
Small children in large numbers smell funny. Like a weird sweet smell mixed with rotten milk.

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 10:49 PM
I don't have a job. I'm just not going to class, mostly because I have a lab test that I didn't study for and I'm going to fail the class anyway, so why bother?

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 10:59 PM
Well, there's just two small children, and I find them unfailingly delightful and not generally odiferous. However, I once worked in a day care, and I know exactly the smell you speak of.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 11:01 PM
Don't worry, john, I'm sure I'll come running back to your bedroom window as soon as my new stalkee gets the RO paperwork filed against me. :science: Oh wait, you weren't worried. :sciencefail:

john ingram
25th November 2009, 11:05 PM
There's no need to worry about the inevitable. It's all about setting the proper expectations and biding your time until the anticipated moment arrives.

Don't worry, dear. It's not the first time this year that my heart has been broken.

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 11:06 PM
Kids kind of scare me. I'm not around them that much, so I generally find them cute but I have no idea how to interact with them.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 11:08 PM
If you treat them better than dogs, you're doing better than most adults.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 11:11 PM
Aww, you're so cute when you're melodramatic. You know I'll still stalk you, just platonically now.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 11:14 PM
I treat em like raucous chimps.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 11:16 PM
Aww, you're so cute when you're melodramatic.

Really, I'm not.

You know I'll still stalk you, just platonically now.

Hooray!

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 11:17 PM
I feel like they think I'm an idiot.

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 11:17 PM
Not cute or not melodramatic?

john ingram
25th November 2009, 11:20 PM
Not cute when melodramatic.

bufftabby
25th November 2009, 11:20 PM
Whatevs. Definitely cute, definitely melodramatic.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 11:24 PM
It's a genetic flaw.

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 11:27 PM
So is your face.

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 11:31 PM
That was both lame and rude. I take it back.

john ingram
25th November 2009, 11:40 PM
It was actually pretty funny. And quite fucking true.

Euryphaessa
25th November 2009, 11:44 PM
*high five*

Euryphaessa
26th November 2009, 12:07 AM
WHERE'D EVERYBODY GO?

Euryphaessa
26th November 2009, 12:24 AM
I just read the word "union" and mentally pronounced it like "onion". Maybe it's time for sleep.

john ingram
26th November 2009, 09:37 PM
Up to 38,622 words. I need to hit 40,000 tonight to be on track. I keep falling a day behind, then rushing to catch up on the next day, which is not going to work as the deadline approaches.

bufftabby
27th November 2009, 12:12 AM
You'll be fine, you'll make it.

john ingram
27th November 2009, 07:13 AM
Don't patronize me.

bufftabby
27th November 2009, 08:04 AM
Wasn't planning on it. Gonna stick with trying to be encouraging.

Uthrecht
27th November 2009, 03:15 PM
