Jayjay is down but not out
 

I am not Jayjay, but I am his partner. Some of you may know me as supervenusfreak from the Dope. Jayjay's health has taken a turn for the worse, due to complications from diabetes, and an infection, and he has been admitted to a local hospital. It is not something that is life threatening currently, but he will have to have surgery and rehabilitation in order to help save his life. All good thoughts and prayers are appreciated, as always.

Sending good thoughts, good vibes and love. Thank for letting us know, and take some good thoughts for yourself too. I know it's hard.

Good grief, we take our eyes off JayJay for a few minutes and he ends up in the hospital. That man, I swear....

Well, he needs to buckle down and get better now. He's formidably bright, and very determined. I'm sure, if he applies himself, he can charm the hospital staff into a smidgeon of pampering, and thus wrest a little enjoyment while his carcass gets mended.

We will beam him Healing Thoughts meanwhile. I don't know whether that'll help but what the hell. JayJay, you are feeling STRONGER and BETTER, and if you don't, we'll kick yer ass.

Give us his password so we can all use his account. That oughta get him up and out of hospital pretty soon! (Get well soon jayjay) ;)

Well, they had to take the foot, and I'm currently writing this on my Android from the rehab facility. Today was my first day of therapy and WOW is it hard! But it's going to get me back to being relatively independent so hard just means buckle down and do it!

I really want to thank everyone for all the well-wishes and prayers. It's nice knowing that so many people are pulling for me.

Oh my goodness, Jayjay. You and I haven't interacted before (I'm pretty sure), but I hope you won't mind me saying that I'm very, very sorry to hear your news. I'm so, so sorry that you lost your foot. I just can't imagine.

One of our IT guys had to get a prosthetic leg a few years ago, and when I saw him after his rehab and stuff it was like night and day. Before he could barely hobble around with a walker and after he was moving around so well you'd never know he had a fake leg. So keep up with the sadistic therapy, it's worth it! :)

URT's post sounds like good advice to me, but then again I'm not the one going through therapy. So feel free to drop into the minirant thread and curse your physical therapist all you want. :)

Welcome back! A friend of mine went through the same thing many years ago, and those things have gotten soooo much better now. Sorry you had to go through it, but you're on the mend, and that's all good.

Heh...yes, therapy is TOUGH! I come away from both sessions feeling like I just ran a marathon. But I can't bitch about my therapists...they're excellent at what they do and since I'm completely on board with "work me like a mill horse if it'll get me better at living with this little lack", I can't complain about that, either. It feels a lot better to be exhausted in the service of getting better than it would to be sitting in this wheelchair for the rest of my life.

Yep. After his second near death experience* my brother turned into such a pollyanna he was annoying to be around for a good year. At least he was around to be annoying.
