How did you find the Giraffe Boards?
 

I know there was another poll earlier about who had an account on the SDMB, but this poll's better for several reasons which I can't be bothered listing.

So, what brought you to the Raffe? Elaborate on your answer if necessary (tell us what you Googled and whether it brought you to the Boobs or the Butts thread).

I chose the most boring option.

I actually went to Domebo first, but was starting to get a bit sick of the place when I got Peemed on the durp and invited over here.

I seem to remember a PM from Giraffe or probably someone else. So I'm going with Giraffe.

I honestly think the very first I heard of it was at the Snackpit.

I'd kind of given up on the Durp, but was told of the existence of the GB by a fellow doper who had made the move. I joined and was hooked.

I just moved the chips and there it was! [rimshot] :D

I went to Domebo first too, but nobody asked me to come.

I think it was IP who told me to come here. I don't remember if that was the first I'd heard of it, but it was what convinced me to come.

Saw the link in MPSIMS but was at work and had to go get some stuff done right after reading it. A few hours later I joined because I had gotten a feel for how Giraffe kidded the Pit and thought it would work really well. I didn't actually expect to find forums, just a Pit where anything would go (for the most part). Instead I found flowers and sunshine. Ya bastards. :p

My fiancé posts here, mainly in the Mafia-threads. So I had a looksie every once in a while, until I finally signed up.

'kidded' is strangely apropos but of course I meant to say 'modded'. Stupid iPhone auto-correct.

I was standing there, minding my own business and the Giraffe boards found me. :innocent:

GB started up about the same time my old board was dying, I saw the notice in MPSIMP and checked it out. I vaguely recall a PM, but I think I dreamed it.

Well you looked so cold and lonely out there.

Giraffe tried his best to get away from me, but I'm a great stalker.

Lurked at the Dope for about a year and a half.. never joined.. followed the link in MPSIMP and came on over.. realized that "HEY, this is a board I can POST on!"

mlerose said to me one day, "Hey, this place is way better than the Dope." And I said, "Okay."

11 months later and I haven't the foggiest clue where we're going, but it sure is a comfy handbasket.

Jaade was looking to get Giraffezine started, and she remembered that I am the most neurotic editor she's ever worked with, so she convinced me to hie myself over here.

That was for a month or so last year. Then I had that fun with the woman at the college I attend, and let's face it: I love Pit environments.

Khampelf posted a link on another message board and I followed.

So blame him for my being here. :p

Damn. Didn't read the options properly. I picked "A post on some other message board" but actually it was DoMeBo, so the first option is correct.

I have no idea how I ended up at DoMeBo though. Qaaludes may have been involved.

I either followed a link at the Dope or Dumbo. While naked.

I originally heard about this board when Giraffe posted the initially announcement to the SDBM, and I occasionally wandered in to lurk when I was bored and/or the SDMB stupidity was pissing me off. I finally bothered with registering an account when I noticed a JtF thread I could answer.

Clicked on a linky back on the Dope and then registered here without thinking about it.

Wasn't me -- I think I've PM'd two people about the existence of this place, well after the board started. Maybe three. Long time Dopers I remembered and liked from way back who weren't around when we started, so I sent them a heads-up PM. Now I'm on three more ignore lists. :sciencefail:

Apropos of nothing at all (as usual) I had no exposure to you before coming to this board, so I don't know anything about you other than your avatar.

Because of this, I imagine you typing on an enormous keyboard with four giant toes. This pleases me and I beg of you not to disabuse the notion.

I've always pictured him that way too, even back on the SDMB.

Giraffe and I were doing webcam shows for each other and he said "Put that vodka and vodka down, I want to tell you about my board" and I said "I saw your board just a few minutes ago, Sailor" and he said "MY MESSAGE BOARD"

That was it.

I received a gilt-edged hand-written invitation from Giraffe delivered by courier.

Oh okay I saw the thread in MPSIMS and decided to check it out, and what da ya know it was a cool little place. I'm really glad I did too, come to really enjoy it here. :)

It may have been S1 but I am pretty sure that it was the MPSIMS thread. I took a look around and realized that this was going to be the place for me.

It started years back when I was researching something. Cecil was the only one who posted some particular thing on SD, so I read it regularly. Then, I noticed it had a message board. I thought, "Wow. If this place didn't have so many rule changes, infights about how to run the board, and trolls, I might wanna join". Then I saw a post on SD directing to here, and the rest is history.
