What do these lyrics mean?

My daughter sent me this catchy song (apparently in Swedish); I like it, and it's English translation, but I'm not sure the English version actually is a translation. Anyone speak Swedish and can tranlsate?

As you can see the videos are completely different. (I actually like the Swedish version better, even without the video, something about the sound of the words. Very pleasant.)

Hmmm, can't edit anymore? Did they take out the edit feature?

Anyway, I continued to look around on Youtube and found a version with English subtitles. I love this song even more now!

Wow, great song! I have to say that I friggin' love the internet. You can go from a messageboard post to a Youtube video to an i-tunes purchase in the span of 10 minutes. Thanks, Mirhanda! (P.S. Totally agree that the Swedish version sounds better.)

No, it's still there, but you only have a short time to make your edit. I think it's five minutes, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, I just missed it I guess.

Esme thank my daughter in college. She brought that home to me over Christmas.

I really want to write a song in French that goes, "I'm a gullible American and I'll buy anything." :)

I don't think these lyrics are really what the song is singing. 'Boten' is boat. The english lyrics are about a spam bot?

Well, since I don't speak Swedish, I only have that translation to go by. But the English lyrics match up pretty well with the video. At one point he's driving around with his laptop in the passenger seat. Then later, the pretty girl comes in. But if you speak Swedish, what is he really saying?

I barely speak English. I was attempting to translate it with this babelfish app I have. Hell, I thought it was Dutch. Actually, is Dutch==Swedish?

I have Dutch on my mind because I went to the Amish farm market for lunch....
Sorry to interrupt your thread ;)

Well, I think I'm the only residfent Swedish guy here, so I'll take a crack at it.

Busshunter's friend played a prank on him on their IRC channel. The friend told him he'd set up a bot called Anna, to handle kicking and banning due to abuse. In reality, Anna was a real girl, in on the joke, who proceeded to post ever more strange messages, bot style, to the channel.

This was made into a song. I'll try to interpret the lyrics.

I know a bot.
Her name is Anna. Anna is her name.
And she can ban ya. Ban ya really hard.
She keeps it mice in our channel-
I want to tell ya, that I know a bot.

She keeps watch over everybody here.
Makes sure everyone's in line
There will never be a take-over here
I know a bot, keep that in mind

A bot that kicks like a hammer
And she kicks withoyt being told.
She gets rid of every spammer.
Well, no one messes with our bot.

...snip...

But when Anna wrote and said.

I'm not a bot.
I'm a very, very gorgeous girl.

...snip...

But she'll always be a bot to me.

It's universally hated in Sweden.

Sometimes it's better to not know the lyrics. :)

The tune reminds me a lot of the stuff they played in the early 80's in the first days of MTV.

Mirhanda 3rd April 2009 09:03 AM

The video with the english subtitles was pretty close then! I love the song even more knowing it's so geeky.
