(Puzzle Competition) Anyone Interested in This

The CiSRA Puzzle Competition is starting up again and I was thinking maybe we could put together a team of 4 (which is the max on team size) to represent the 'Raffe. It's a series of complicated puzzles, released in groups--kind of like the MIT Mystery Hunt, but from Australia. Anyone interested?

(Mods: Could you move Puzzle Competition to the front of the title please?)

Thread title changed at OP's request. :)

I'm game.

Let's do this. Worst case if we enter, we lose. Worst case if we don't enter, we get nothing.

We have nothing to lose.

Metallic Squink 21st April 2010 10:31 AM

Those puzzles look really, really difficult. As much as I would love to be able to help solve some (or even one) of them, I don't know if I could. But in the spirit of "we have nothing to lose" [but our dignity and/or facade of intelligence], and if you are in need of a fourth, I'm willing to give it a try.

Alright, I made a group and invited you all to it, which is where we should be doing our puzzle solving (Lest our efforts get stolen after we solve everything first :p).

Anyway, the first thing we need is a name for our group. I was just thinking Raffers, but if anyone has better ideas I'm open.

Also, they need a Name and Email Address from all four of us, and only one person can register the team. So I'll need your guys's email addresses (assuming that your name is just your screen-name).

Group name's not a concern, but e-mail is sadpunk gmail com (with relevant in-between characters).

Will screen name be enough?

Should be: I've looked through the rules and don't see a rule that says it doesn't.

Cool. The Raffers are now in the running.

No word yet on when the first puzzles go up.

Give me a nudge if you need a hand

Word. Will do.

I'm totally going for the Iron Brain title. I'm legally changing my name if I win!

Metallic Squink 27th April 2010 08:29 AM

Did you all get your email from CiSRA? I did! Very exciting! I'm looking at last year's puzzles and I actually was on the right track with one of them. I have a glimmer of hope, I think!

Metallic Squink 27th April 2010 08:35 AM

So what is the plan for trying to solve these? Will each of us work on one? Will we all try to contribute to the solution for all in a group? Will we post our thoughts in this thread?

jali 27th April 2010 08:57 AM

Are you guys going to share the puzzles with the mere mortals who aren't officially playing?

Trepa Mayfield 27th April 2010 09:11 AM

Yup. I'm totally nervous, but totally excited too.

I was planning on putting a link to the puzzles in this thread, then starting a discussion for each of them in the private group thingy.

Metallic Squink 27th April 2010 09:20 AM

The only problem with the social groups is that the length of the posts is limited. I cannot remember how much room you have but I do remember having to cut a lot of my posts short in my running social group.

Really? Hmm...the problem with discussing in this thread is that one of the rules is "no collaboration between teams", and if ambly's going for the Iron Brain, then...well, I suppose it could work, but we could easily end up getting poached by another team.

Metallic Squink 27th April 2010 04:38 PM

I see. We can try it - we may just need to post multiple times. I see that Giraffe is saying it's unlimited. That's not what I found in my experience but maybe it's changed recently.

Trepa Mayfield 28th April 2010 11:08 AM

And here...we go!

First 4 puzzles are up.

Mbossa 28th April 2010 11:33 AM

Dayum. They hard.

Amblydoper 29th April 2010 07:27 PM

Hard Indeed.
I'm not a bloody plumber!
