I'm a Student Again! (MFA)

And there's a whole hell of a lot of "What the bleep am I thinking"? going on on this end.

I have been accepted into National University's Master of Fine Arts -- Creative Writing program. It is an intensive, approximately year and a half program; I will be done with my courses by December 2012 and after that will have to finish my thesis, so I anticipate I should actually have the MFA by April or May of 2013.

Why now, you ask?

Because I'm tired of waiting for my life to be prefect to go chasing my dreams.

So, my feelings are running approximately like this:

:science:  :eew: :barf: :wow: :wow: :toot: :wow: :barf: :science:

Hooray for you! :toot:

Congratulations! Glad to hear that you're going for the brass ring.

That's a great reason. To do pretty much anything.

I think about going for an MFA from time to time, but:

1. Mlerose gets her shot at grad school first, because I owe her. We made a deal. When I auditioned for Jeopardy last month, they asked the standard, "Say you win, what will you do with the money?" question. Not a doubt in my mind: pay for Mle to go to grad school.

2. Also, I'm such a lousy, lazy student. I really don't know how I'd handle the pressures of grad school.

Anyway, all of that is neither here nor there. My main point is, chasing your dreams is always worthwhile, and good luck!

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll love the course (well, I would, and clearly everyone is just like me!) and I think your reason for going for it is excellent. Good luck!

Wonderful! I can attest to the fabulous feeling that is setting educational goals and seeing them through. ;)

Congratulations! I'm sure it will be tough, but then one day you'll realize you're done and wonder where the time went. Then you end up more like this: :drugnerd:

2 weeks left for me...can't believe it's been 4 years! :science::drugnerd:

Excellent!

That's awesome, Sister!

And please mention to the young, impressionable female students that I can make myself available for private tutoring. :science:

It's an online degree program, Zeenster -- and you know we're all dogs (of the four-footed variety) on the internet. ;)

Thanks so much for the coagulations, all. :)
