Unwelcoming

I'm pitting all of you who have been unkind to me for no good reason. It's no way to welcome a new poster to your boards. You should be ashamed of yourselves!

Clothahump 25th June 2014 02:09 PM

I must have missed something here. Cite?

Lungfish 25th June 2014 02:11 PM

I agree that have you been treated unfairly. Shame on those who are responsible and shame on those, including myself, who didn't speak-out against them.

Got called a troll for giving an unpopular opinion in this thread: http://www.giraffeboards.com/showthread.php?t=35807

JoanieBaloney 25th June 2014 02:33 PM

omg so reasonable and persuasive  This is neither the time nor the place, madam. Banish her!

Bouncy Beth 25th June 2014 02:35 PM

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but having an unpopular opinion does not make one a troll. I expected to be named as a whole host of other posters, as is common when joining a board but the troll schtick was a bit stupid.

I thought this is what this section was for - calling out annoying and assinine behaviour. No?

Yeah, but we were mean to her! In the Pit, of all places! Veb's snuggles-and-puppies forum. How dare we!

If it were, the denizens of this board would have already put a crown on me. You have to understand, though, that this is a reasonably freewheeling place and that most of the folks here are reasonably nice overall. However, there are a few that....aren't.

Vandervecken 25th June 2014 03:36 PM

That loud cracking sound you just heard was my irony meter shattering.

And I just had the damn thing calibrated, too.

Khampelf 25th June 2014 04:20 PM

You're a seasoned forums poster, but you still go crying to the admins when you get your feelings hurt? No one promised nice, where do you think you are? We are the internet's unwanted children, we don't have to be and have little interest in 'nice'.

If you put on your big girl panties, take us less seriously and say 'cunt' a few times, you might could dig in and have fun here.

Anyway, I'm the sensitive fragile flower around here, you'll have to find another schtick. You hinted you were promiscuous, go with that and slut it up. You have to be better looking than BARBI.

Bouncy Beth 25th June 2014 06:11 PM

Oh I'm not all teary about it or whining to admins. I just think it is so utterly pointless and rather idiotic. If I did something to actually warrant it, then game on but I didn't. Believe me, I'll give you enough ammo as I post without you having to invent it.

I can take it and I can dish it but I'm not going to start beaking people off that I don't know.

I'm horny, not promiscuous :P

Radical Edward 25th June 2014 06:13 PM

Actually, I don't think it's a troll. I think it's a sock of Giraffe.

You mean that gross one that he comes into all the time? Ewww.

Bouncy Beth 25th June 2014 06:36 PM

I'm not anybody's sock. I'm my own person.

It's "cums" BTW :P

Khampelf 25th June 2014 08:01 PM

I hope you stick around, you're ok.

Bouncy Beth 25th June 2014 08:57 PM

Thanks :)

boomerwang 25th June 2014 09:37 PM

Yes... when I first heard of a Brian sock, I was (justifiably) mortified. Good to see it's not true.

Bouncy Beth 25th June 2014 10:56 PM

I honestly have no idea who Brian is.

Jaglavak 26th June 2014 12:14 AM

Congrats. Moving right along...

Burpy 26th June 2014 03:19 AM

Now that that has all been cleared up, could you tell us why you are bouncy?

Bouncy Beth 26th June 2014 05:49 AM

I'm a hyper and active human.

pickle berry 26th June 2014 07:05 AM

Yeah, that was very doperish of those people calling you a troll.

Yes, having the opinion that people with non-functioning legs aren't safe to drive is such an inflammatory thing to say.

Isn't it though? I bet you thought I was going to mention my tits. Boy were you wrong!

Rat Diva 26th June 2014 07:43 AM

Naw, once you're here longer you'll realize Guin is the one always bragging about her pair of great tits.

Bouncy Beth 26th June 2014 07:47 AM

Those are the prettiest pair of tits I've seen today Diva.

Hearing any variation of "handicapped people shouldn't" is going to get my claws out. Rolling with my homies usually means a wheelchair or a walker in the trunk. Sometimes both. While you're popping in for your smokes, I'll be pushing my guy from halfway down the parking lot because I didn't know "you'd just be a minute" and parked elsewhere.

Oops, that's the "no big deal to use the handicapped parking if I'm in a hurry" peeve.

Everyone who drives needs to be physically able to, but it's easy to make false assumptions about ability from appearances.

Flying Saucerian 26th June 2014 02:45 PM

Okay, this was enough to get me back. So it's on her head.

Additional info: Handicapped people who have trouble walking but can drive generally have their cars modified to accommodate their problems if necessary. If it's not necessary, they still might have trouble walking long distances.

Handicapped people who can't drive usually need special equipment to get around such as wheelchairs. To unload this equipment and get the person into it, cars often need more space than usually found in the standard parking space. Some modified vans and such even have ramps and elevators to lower the person to the ground.

Thus, handicapped spaces closer to the door or in areas with more room to move about.

Okay?

Mr. Plumbean 26th June 2014 02:51 PM

I look forward to future "just posting an unpopular opinion" posts from trouncy troll here.

- Cell phones in movie theaters: what's the big deal. HOWEVER, it really peeves me that senior citizens are allowed to own phones.

- Changing diapers on restaurant tables: totes fine. HOWEVER, people with children shouldn't be allowed to dine out. Even when their children aren't with them.

- Gay marriage is icky, but the age of consent should be lowered to 9 for heterosexual relationships.

Continue by more what? huh? me? threads about how "she" is just an innocent nobody who wandered in completely by chance to express all these remarkable opinions.

Solfy 26th June 2014 03:44 PM

I know someone with handicap plates because she has asthma. Near as I can tell, that doesn't affect her driving abilities at all. She doesn't look handicapped.
She's also an insufferable cunt, and I mean that in the nicest possible way, but that's neither here nor there.

Radical Edward 26th June 2014 03:53 PM

My next door neighbor has handicap plates because she has lupus, scleroderma, osteoporosis and a host of other bullshit. She doesn't look handicapped. Doesn't affect her driving at all.

My great-aunt who had two pacemakers and a defibrillator didn't look handicapped either, but she wasn't allowed to walk more than 100 yards without sitting down for a spell. Didn't look handicapped. Didn't affect her driving.

And my grandma with COPD who had to tote an oxygen tank around whenever she left the house? She didn't look very handicapped, but she could drive just fucking fine. If some douchetool parked in the HC spot and made her walk farther than she had to with that tank my cousins would have keyed their car.

Who gets special parking?♫
License plates, too-ooooo♪
The handicap do, the handicap do
Yes, the handicap do-oooo ♫

Bouncy Beth 26th June 2014 06:34 PM

A few clarifications:

1. In my original post on this subject, I qualified the modified vehicle exception. People who have non-functioning legs do not require the use of them in modified vehicles as they tend to have hand controls. No problem. I should have re-stated that point in my post in this thread. My apologies.

2. Providing an example of people who are handicapped who don't have issues with their legs and don't fit the category of "non-functioning legs" were not included in the point for obvious reasons.

3. Khamf, people with handicaps have handicaps. I believe people who do not have proper function of their legs, specifically their right leg, are not safe to drive. I demonstrated that with a comment about not being able to walk (see point one for further clarification). I didn't say it because I want to be a jerk to handicapped people or just piss everyone off. It was mentioned as a safety concern. I'm assuming most of you here possess the mental capacity to figure out why non-functioning legs would be a problem when it comes to operating pedals on a vehicle.

4. I understand why people who need to use handicap spaces would be pissed about people parking in them. I just wouldn't flip out on someone unless he/she was actually denying someone use of the space who needed it in that very moment or who occupied it for more than one. I understand it is a societal acceptance thing, but it's not something that gets my knickers in a knot. If you were pushing your guy across the parking lot Kampf because of it, you have a very legitimate beef.

I really didn't think these points were enough to get backs up, claws out, and to be branded a troll. If you object to my rationale, by all means present your case. Maybe there is a something I've neglected to consider.

I have lots of opinions about a lot of things. Deal with it.

I also didn't wander here by chance either. I was told by a friend to check out the Dope. I didn't like it so he suggested I give this place a go instead. He recently reminded me I was registered here so I picked my account back up.

Sure. And I'm Warren Buffett and I post here incognito so that I know people like me for myself.

Rebo 26th June 2014 08:50 PM

Aw, you beat me to it. But this guy has no arms AND no legs. (No, his name is not Russell.)

The first thing he says he can't do is "drive legally."

Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. I'm not sure how this video negates anything I've said. The woman has two working legs and a modified vehicle. Both of those things exclude her from my point.

Rebo 26th June 2014 09:31 PM

What about the other guy? The only modifications he makes to the tractor are to grab a 2x4 and notch it out.

And I'm not really arguing with you. Just pointing out that maybe you need to expand your idea of "safety."

Welcome (back) to the 'Raffe.

:D

I love that guy!

He can't drive legally because it's likely not safe for him to do so. I guess the department of transportation are trolls too.

That's a tractor not a road vehicle. I suppose you could give me the gears for not being specific enough although I did figure that licensed road vehicles was implied. Also I didn't say they COULDN'T drive. I said they shouldn't.

Rebo 26th June 2014 09:35 PM

No, it's probably not a good idea for them to let him have a license. But I totally think this particular guy could handle being legal.

With modifications to a vehicle, probably. He's very capable.

We enjoy full contact posting here. The vast majority are Nice People, but some are trolls and we've been burned before. For whatever reason, you've pinged some folks' radars. The best thing you can do at this point is to not respond to every criticism and just carry on.
