Attempted Account Theft
 

I just got this in my email:

"Someone has tried to log into your account on The Giraffe Boards with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 183.207.228.22"

Yeah, and I almost figured it out too. How can your password not be adnahrim?

Yes, people have been getting these emails for the past few weeks. Some spammer is apparently systematically scraping usernames and trying to brute force people's passwords in order to post as them. Why, I have no idea went could just register an account and be spamming seconds later. I guess they're hoping we'll trust someone with an actual post count and click on their links? (Which goes to show how little they understand of this board and the respect we have for each other.)

Speaking of which, I have a HUGE inheritance, but I can't actually access it unless you give me all your banking details and the keys to your house. Once you do that I'll have all my money and a golden grand piano which I will happily split with you and you can have the north wing of my beautiful castillo.
