February Festivities (now with 3½% more sunlight!)

After a long hiatus looks like this hack finally sold another book.

A perfect job opportunity for Ms. Plumbean posted today and she'll totally get this job because she's done a lot for the organization that's hiring.

There, I good and jinxed both those things now.

Jaglavak 1st February 2016 11:06 AM

Torpedo through the bunkers, dude. But congrats for now anyway!

And if you elect me as your president, I shall move Martin Luther King Day to August, when it is warm enough to go outside. The man deserved better.

I have to agree personally weather wise, but August could use a good holiday besides my birthday.

Mr. Plumbean 2nd February 2016 08:53 AM

We'll just have to wait for your birthday to be a Federal holiday.

teela brown 2nd February 2016 01:30 PM

I'm officially transferred to the great insurance my husband has at his new job. I'm off my company's chintzy HMO and onto a great PPO. I've nothing wrong with me, but I feel like going to a specialist of my choice just for the hell of it.

August fools day? :rebo:

Diamonds02 3rd February 2016 04:03 PM

I farted and it sounded wet. But it turned out to be dry. Thank heavens for small favors!

Glazer 3rd February 2016 04:28 PM

There's a little brown spot in my shorts today.
It's the same old spot as yesterday.
Well I've seen it before and I'll see it again,
it's been wandering circles 'round my laundry bin...

Khampelf 3rd February 2016 05:13 PM

I laughed out loud, Glazer. Good one.

Khampelf 4th February 2016 09:43 AM

My other roller derby league finally put out a schedule, and none of the dates conflict with the banked track league. So hooray, I never have to choose which bout to go to because they're on the same Saturday.

I just bought tickets for the Desert Dolls season opener! That's the flat track league that loves their fans. I've been going to banked track games, those are the Arizona Derby Dames.

Scuba Ben 9th February 2016 05:04 AM

I've been sold!

I mean...

The old place has sold!

Mazel Tov, Scuba Ben!

it's spring, I have been seeing and hearing Robins since Friday :science:

The Futility of Nihilism 17th February 2016 11:31 AM

What wonderful weather today. Got the windows all wide open.

Mr. Plumbean 17th February 2016 11:36 AM

Felt springy yesterday but it happens every year -- you let your guard down and the deep freeze returns.

Khampelf 17th February 2016 03:16 PM

There was a calendar (finally!), a check from 2014 income tax (also finally!), and coupons for 48 cans of free cat food. I bothered to call and complain to Purina about the salmon dinner causing nausea and so the cat food is on them for a while. The calendar is of Hilda pictures, pin ups of a lusty funny chubby girl. I love Hilda.

Dangermouse 18th February 2016 03:50 AM

I started volunteering at the local animal shelter. I wanted to take home all the cats!

Mr. Plumbean 18th February 2016 07:14 AM

Book deal announced today. I was sure a month ago that I'd have to publish it myself on Amazon.com. And everybody says the editor is fabulous. I love book announcement day and all the congratulations rolling in.

Glazer 18th February 2016 07:18 AM

Good show old bean.

Khampelf 18th February 2016 07:40 AM

Hearty congratulations, Old Bean.

Zeener Diode 18th February 2016 08:25 AM

Huzzah!

Jaglavak 18th February 2016 09:53 AM

Sweet! Getting paid is always in season.

That would make you a danger mouse indeed.

Solfy 19th February 2016 12:40 PM

Is there anything better than getting good news on a Friday afternoon?
I received very positive word on not one but two of my projects today. I am glowing.
And about to be really extremely busy again.

Jaglavak 19th February 2016 04:48 PM

Sweet! You might want to call hubby and warn him that he's getting chained to the bed tonight.

Solfy 20th February 2016 07:00 AM

I came home and told him my good news. He responded, "So? Why should I care?"
No chains.
Later he claimed he was joking. His unfunny joke took the air out of my balloon. I told him as much. Whatever.

Khampelf 20th February 2016 07:15 AM

Oh what a buzzkill, that's rotten of him.

It's my night off, there's a bout to go to, I'm well stocked on medicine and I got confirmation yesterday that the caregiver shifts I ordered to cover me for vacation are scheduled with familiar caregivers. Whoop Whoop Whoop! I'm totally stoked and appreciating my blessings.
:confetti:

Jaglavak 20th February 2016 10:01 AM

Oops. I'm sorry, Solfy. Hubby has a strange sense of humor.

Ludovic 21st February 2016 11:35 AM

Every mile I walk from here on it will set or break my 4 day walking personal record of 50 miles. I'm about to bust it the heck open and hopefully hit 70!

teela brown 22nd February 2016 09:39 AM

Good February festivity: We went to my favorite sushi bar and had a wonderful meal.

Intervening minirant: Halfway through the meal, we were served a delectable soup of dashi which had in it pieces of bone-in fish. Although I was careful about the bones, I still managed to swallow one. It got stuck in my throat! I excused myself and went to the ladies' room, where I cacked and yacked and finally had to resort to sticking my finger down my throat to dislodge the bone from where it was stuck just under the tonsils. I almost barfed up what I had eaten, but just avoided it. Washed my face and after a minute of recovery, went back out to resume my meal, feeling a bit like someone with bulimia.

Back to February festivity: the rest of the meal was awesome.

Jaglavak 22nd February 2016 09:59 AM

Just one of many reasons I don't particularly enjoy eating fish.

That's a lot of shoe leather!

The Devil's Grandmother 23rd February 2016 09:07 AM

The sun was up when my alarm went off this morning. I dislike getting up in the dark, so this is my happiest time of year. The poppies, violets and daffodils are all blooming. :)

Khampelf 24th February 2016 05:26 AM

I had a merchant dispute resolved by the bank in my favor. Damn gym was trying to charge me both the annual and monthly fee, even though I quit according to their rules. Gyms can be harder to quit than the mafia.

Mr. Plumbean 24th February 2016 06:48 AM

You have to quit my gym in writing and they set the actual end date for like sixty days from the time you request it.

Khampelf 24th February 2016 07:09 AM

I just got a robo-call from Blast! saying there was a 'problem' with my account that needed 'immediate attention'. Nice try.

JackieLikesVariety 24th February 2016 09:07 AM

I also love Spring. Sadly, I don't have anything blooming but I have 4 perennials outside in pots and at least three of them lived through the winter

The fishing text I got last week from a bank was wide-spread enough to make the local news. I feel sorry for the uninvolved bank they were spoofing. They had to field a lot of confused calls.

Soon. Spring is coming.
I always feel a little guilty when I talk about plants this time of year. It's gorgeous here and large parts of the rest of the world is still under a layer of snow.

Khampelf 25th February 2016 04:09 PM

I don't. Feel guilty that is. It was in the 70s today, partly cloudy, I wore a tank top all day running around. Now I'm back home with a cat in my lap demanding to know where I was all day and what am I going to do for him now?

Today was a great day, got all my stuff done and done well!

Jaglavak 25th February 2016 08:54 PM

Spring can't sproing yet, it's not even leap day!

JackieLikesVariety 26th February 2016 05:08 AM

I don't care what the calendar says, I can tell it's spring: my sap is rising. :science:

Sure, it will get cold again, it will snow again: but it will be a spring cold and a spring snow, dammit! :fist:

We have a safety initiative at work that has "365" in the title. Therefore we have declared Monday to be "Danger Day." Since it's day 366, we don't have to be safe. Plans include standing on roller chairs, running with scissors, getting in and out of vehicles with a single point of contact, and not using the hand rails in stairways.

Be sure to play Weird Al's album Running With Scissors -- loudly and without ear protection, natch -- and to eat things that fell on the floor.

If you want to get really dangerous, and we're talking Darking Duck levels here, say "no" to managers.

On Monday I have to get up before dawn to drive my manager and his manager to a three day conference we're attending. May Og have mercy on my soul.
