101 Snarkmations starring Cruella DurpVille

FPB.

Also, the fact that 101 had a good reference doesn't mean it's required going forward. New thread title rules still apply, but if there's a good reference (103 has one) we can still use it.

Rat Diva 6th June 2018 04:58 AM

Thread title su.... actually, does not suck at all.

WHAT KIND OF BIZARRO-WORLD GWEEB HAVE I STUMBLED INTO :vapors:

eta: SPB!

iiandyiiii 6th June 2018 05:00 AM

Predictable but solid thread title.

Mr. Plumbean 6th June 2018 05:14 AM

Is it the original animated snark thread or the kinda lousy live action remake with Glenn Close?

Fenris 6th June 2018 05:41 AM

Original, animated, of course.

expectopatronum 6th June 2018 05:41 AM

oh here you guys are

kayaker 6th June 2018 05:56 AM

Really scary isn't it? Are we really alone here?

Cochrane 6th June 2018 06:07 AM

It's like when Elaine stumbled into these guys who were the opposite of Jerry, George, and Kramer.

Sunny Daze 6th June 2018 06:37 AM

You take that back.

Morgenstern 6th June 2018 06:39 AM

We haven't heard one word about arbitrary and capricious modding. I don't feel secure now.

Fenris 6th June 2018 06:53 AM

Here in Bizarro-Gweeb, we only have thoughtful and contemplative modding

Reverse psychology, I like it...

Sunny Daze 6th June 2018 07:14 AM

Now they are pleading for boxing.

Pencil 6th June 2018 07:48 AM

:harumph:
I had one chance to enlighten Gweeb with obscure 43 year old proto-punk that only I remember, but typical Americans go for animated Disney glurge.

Also @Fenris spelling fail.
The breed is dalmatian, so it should be Snarkmatians

Ah, Subway. Haven't been there for months.

SmartAleq 6th June 2018 08:24 AM

Buncha turtle huggers up in here--I approve! :rebo:

Rat Diva 6th June 2018 09:03 AM

Don't worry, Sunny. I'm sure our anencephalic cephalopod won't be able to resist getting his slimy little suckers stuck to a pit thread all about him.

ETA: Boom.

I was gonna, just so I could be one of the cool kids, but meh - I'm REALLY lazy. And, I forgot.

Eh, octopuses are cool. It's not their fault that some jerk chose to name himself after them.

Larry Borgia 6th June 2018 10:07 AM

NOT SNARK AT ALL: Chefguy's son has died.:(

Very sad news. He'd talked about his son's struggles with alcohol and narcotics before.

Mr. Plumbean 6th June 2018 10:10 AM

Damn.

Morgenstern 6th June 2018 10:17 AM

It must have been horrible watching his son go through all of that. Parents just aren't suppose to see their issue die.

Rebo 6th June 2018 10:25 AM

That is beyond sad. I can't imagine.

Sunny Daze 6th June 2018 10:39 AM

Morgenstern - why you ragging on the mental health stuff? Calling people on being idiots is fine. I'm not getting why you gotta bring their mental health issues into it. Makes people take you less seriously, and it's cruel. Like kicking a dog or something. Everybody's got a few nuts in their tree.

Mr. Plumbean 6th June 2018 10:46 AM

As much as I dislike the target, I felt like teasing someone because their spouse left them was pretty low too. Just sayin'.

expectopatronum 6th June 2018 11:05 AM

Yeah, I think that went a step too far. I do appreciate Morgenstern calling Chimera out for fighting tooth and nail against us during this whole kerfuffle and then being all "we did it!" when the new rule was made, as well as his "enlightened male" stance he's now got going in Sunny's thread, and I don't like the guy either but let's keep some boundaries here, hm?

:( How awful.

Helena 6th June 2018 11:07 AM

WHYYY does everyone keep feeding octopus?? I put him on ignore and scrolling by his countless posts has been bliss, except that so many of you fall for his trolling and quote him. If you really want him to go away, don't do that!

Rat Diva 6th June 2018 11:12 AM

I'm sure most are poking at him to get their jollies, and/or hoping to provoke him into a raegflounce or somehow getting himself banned.

expectopatronum 6th June 2018 11:20 AM

I agree responding to octopus is a waste of time. I've been reading the Pit thread and just scrolling past his posts. Whether he's trolling or sincere, or both, he's not willing to listen to reason so it's pointless and it takes over the thread.

It's turtle hugs all the way down.

neofishboy 6th June 2018 12:23 PM

Telling a black South African to call you Bwana and "know your role". Classy.

Inner Stickler 6th June 2018 12:27 PM

I don't think MrDibble is black, just South African. I am not familiar enough with the pejorative bwana to know if that changes anything.

Pencil 6th June 2018 12:27 PM

@Giraffe
His response to you pretty much confirms that he's a returning troll.

Mr. Dibble is mixed race IIRC, which I believe is (was?) a separate racial classification in the South African scheme. I think the term they use is "colored" which has a different connotation there than it does in the US.

Strummer's band before The Clash? They weren't that good, in all truth.

You do RC. Remember the whole flap about the word "Hottentot"? He was the one who initiated that.

ETA: Here's the thread.
Bonus snark: in post #11 Liberal tries to make it all about him.

Yes, but he's Coloured, not black South African.

Not really the nasty intent is there.

It's a seperate ethnic identity, Capital C "Coloured". Not just mixed race, the mixed race people descended from the mix of Khoisan, Dutch/Europeans, Malays, etc. from the Dutch period, pre-English rule.

It's not merely being mixed, it's that ancestry / descendance. Every one I ever met was very particular about it.

He wasn't using it as a pejorative. Instead he was telling Mr. Dibble to use that term to address him. It means "(in East Africa) a boss or master" ... according to Google's dictionary anyway.

Inner Stickler 6th June 2018 01:03 PM

I appreciate the info on racial demographics in South Africa. I was familiar somewhat with the white/colored/black divide from Trevor Noah's "Born A Crime" but I appreciate further details.

The sense is that he, Octopus the white American is the Boss/Master of the darkie (Dibble). It's pretty damn pejorative to Dibble.

I don't think there are any jollies to be had. He's a twit, below "troll" and "tard" in the message board taxonomy. His raison d'ętre is to be a constant low-level irritant—a pebble in the SDMB shoe—and it's one of the only things he's good at. His shtick is too feeble to ever get him banned, so I also wish people would stop fuckin' replying to him so he'd stay plonked.

He's said he's what they (SA govt.) used to classify as "Colored". It's anyone not classified as "White" or "Black", IOW, second class, rather than third (black). So, no, it doesn't change anything.

ETA: or what Larry ninja'd me with.

MrDibble 6th June 2018 01:33 PM

It was an insult when I used it for him the first time(it's sarcastic, so basically the opposite of respectful) so him adopting it as some sort of slur on my is hi-fucking-larious, actually.

I've restricted replying to him to his own current pit thread now, where, yes, I'm amusing myself - also by burying a couple not-quite-hidden messages he's so far missed completely. So much for high IQ and literacy.
