What's the most desperate you've been for money?

That you've had to do something minor like sell stuff in recycled trash, plasma, or criminal/borderline criminal like stealing, prostitution (it's morally okay but still illegal :violence: BDSM FTW) etc..

Once I had my credit card declined at a very exclusive club. You can imagine my chagrin at having to use a different card right there in front of everybody who's anybody in this town. Naturally my accountant and banker were both fired before my limo left the parking lot.

Wow. You're really lucky the club didn't attach your limo.

I was so broke at one point I allowed myself to be plugged in and used as a battery to power this neural-interactive simulation thingy. It was a bummer.

I've never done anything desperate for money. The only time in my adult life I was in sore need of money was when I closed on a condo and did not realize they wanted a cashier's check for the down payment, but my money was not at a local bank so I had them wire it over and white-knuckled it waiting for it to show up in my balance, and got it to the title company with half an hour to spare in the day, and they said they were worried about whether I was going to even show up.

I've never been desperate enough to try to drink antifreeze because I couldn't afford booze. But then again, booze is cheaper than antifreeze here, and antifreeze gets you deader before it gets you drunker than booze does, anyway.

Once upon a time I was living in a hippie's backyard with my only income coming from donating plasma. In those golden times, A whopper was only a dollar and a side salad sixty cents. The Mexican neighbor sold me nickle bags over the back fence. I wasn't desperate for money, I was learning to live without it.

I don't quite understand the 'sell stuff in recycled trash' remark. You mean take stuff in to pawn shops and the like to sell for money? I do that as a matter of course. I don't want it anymore and someone else might like it.

I once stole from my mom when one of my dogs was really sick and I didn't have enough to pay for her vet bill. It was a shitty thing for me to do and I apologized a day later and returned the money. I'm still ashamed thirty years later, and my mom has been dead and gone for eleven years.

I was so desperate for money that I went out and got a job. That really fucking sucked.

I was fairly desperate for money when I was 18, so I joined the Navy.

How did your mom feel about what you did? Because you stole to keep your pet alive, I would've understood if I had been in her spot. You returning what you took also speaks volumes about the good person that you are too. (hug)

God bless you always!!!
