Going back to the last few posts in the previous thread, I have no idea why people think DrDeth is female. He just posted last week that he looks like musician Kyle Gass.

ETA: Ok, the reason is because not quite a decade or so ago, he was always being coy about it. He was encouraging ambiguity. It's somewhere in the snark-threads about 2011 or 2012, I'm guessing. People found references to his dick, but the impression nevertheless remained.

I've heard about that, which does sound like the sort of asinine game he'd play with people.

What surprises me is that a few people still insist that he's female, despite nearly a decade of posts in which he describes using his penis to pee into urinals. Every time I think we've settled this issue once and for all, someone calls him "she" and the whole debate starts over. :confused:

I may have called Dumbth "her" once or twice but because up until this thread I wasn't sure. I've wanted to call IT "her" as a joke but didn't because I wasn't sure if people would think I thought the "hur hur he's a GIRL" part was funnier than the faux coming out messages.

But I'd prefer "they" overall. I occasionally use it even when I know someone's gender just because grammatical gender is stupid.

Speaking of Stoid snark, does anyone remember the thread where she solicited opinions from male dopers about a relationship she was in? The title was something like "men, give me hope for this relationship". The gist of it was a guy ghosted her after a brief relationship (after she made a point of telling him she's perfect for no strings attached sex because she's not like those other women) and she then proceeds to go nuts trying to email, call, text til he replies. It's 2020. There is nothing to stop someone with a penis identifying as female. The question is how does this poster identify themselves. And if they don't choose to say, why not keep it neutral and use neutral pronouns? Or at least let's not obsess and guess.

That's an interesting thread for a couple of reasons. For some strange reason Happy Lendervedder bumped it with a snarky comment after nine years. Why?

Secondly, that thread was what led to a brief friendship between me and stoid. I have never met a Durper in person but she is one of two with whom I have had a phone conversation. I was recently divorced at the time so we talked about being back in the dating world in the digital age.

She also asked me for financial advice about her situation which led to the famous law suits. I tried to explain to her about how the house asset should be divided. I had literally gone through the same thing in my divorce a few months earlier and we are both in California. The other prong of her lawsuit was how to divide a business. A good friend of mine who owned a small consulting business was going through a divorce at the time and I put them in touch. He explained to her how it was done. There is a very standard way to do both but she didn't think that that applied to her for whatever reason hence the lawsuits.

Notice the date of that thread; late 2006. By the time that her appeal was done, the housing market had cratered and her particular internet business was worthless. Had she just been reasonable, she would have had a nice bankroll.
