Hey G. Board is sluggish

@Giraffe
Up to30s, but a minimum of 20s from hitting submit to when the post pops up.

ETA: I timed this post: 42s.
ETA2: Whereas the former edit just zipped through at normal lightning speed.

let's blame the heat. it's been over 100 here for a year week and forecast for today is 111.

I'm sluggish, I know that. :science:

SmartAleq 30th July 2022 11:54 AM

I'm less sluggish than I was, thanks to a (very) slight cooling trend and a new window A/C unit, woo! Board is being weirdly slow to load and posts are taking time--it's intermittent for me though.

We need more hamsters running on that wheel, and we need to give them better steroids, too.

That board runs on hamsters. This board runs on giraffes. Finding 25 foot tall wheels is a bit of a problem. Finding a damn giraffe that can FIT in the wheel we have is a bit more difficult.

Everything is sluggish today. Shortly after 8 p.m. I went out and sat on the front porch. A couple of minutes later I noticed something unusual for an urban environment -- particular on a Saturday night. It was quiet. No traffic. No sirens. No car horns. No trains. No planes. No barking dogs. No sound of children playing. No lawn mowers cursing their labor. No fireworks or gunshots. No wind. (That never happens in Kansas.) No air conditioner compressors whirring under a summer sun.

It was weird.

P.s.: it took about twenty seconds for that post to upload. Otherwise, page downloads are prompt.

There's a science fiction novel in there....

BJMoose 30th July 2022 05:58 PM

For sure.

Borborygmi 30th July 2022 06:05 PM

So, we think it was aliens that turned off Moose’s hearing aids, or cyborgs, or what?

Residual effect of the Tesla coil.

Something like "Dies the Fire". No one knows. But it makes a good story.

Sputnik 31st July 2022 10:21 AM

Yeah, boards doing that posting delay thing. If you post with your finger in your ear, everything is fine though, Or just use the workaround, and hit post a second time a second or two later and it posts instantly.

Giraffe 31st July 2022 11:49 AM

Testing...

Edit: 22 seconds to post

Giraffe 31st July 2022 11:50 AM

Second post...

Edit: About 22 seconds again. Consistent! Also, editing is instantaneous, so it's probably something to do with creating new database entries. Once the entry is there, changing it is fast.

Giraffe 31st July 2022 11:57 AM

Submitted a ticket, hopefully that can do whatever magic they did last time to fix it.

Huh. I didn't know the Moose drove a Tesla.

There's tickets?

Is that why I feel like I'm on a carnival ride?

Thank you Ungulate Overlord.

ETA:
If I click on submit twice, I directly get "This is a duplicate"-thingie, and if I click the link in that message, I go to the post instantaneously. Just another datapoint.

:science:

The A Tickets are the best.
All I have left is a D and 3 Es.

Pencil 31st July 2022 01:17 PM

Do you have a Ticket To Ride?

Those E's are good for the stage coach on main street.

He doesn't. He tries to crawl under his neighbor's (licking the coil is apparently a thing with meese), but gets his antlers caught in the coil, and then everything fritzes out for a while.

Actually, I'm making good money by towing Teslas.

Something about an ignition coil problem.

Jaglavak 31st July 2022 04:04 PM

Yeah, moose piss will do that every time.

Pixel 31st July 2022 04:48 PM

It isn't piss. It's (he's) raining on your leg.

Getting your antlers caught in that coil wouldn't have ANYTHING to do with that, of course...

Sputnik 1st August 2022 07:31 AM

Hey, it seems to be working fine now. I no longer take the delay in seeing my post personal.

Burpy 1st August 2022 09:36 AM

I burped angrily at the hamsters, and they woke up.
Someone had been feeding them margaritas judging by all the empty cocktail glasses.
It must be a sabotage person, But I hear that setting up cameras in the box is considered a no-go by the united Nations for there are things that cannot be unseen in the box.
Hopefully Mr, Giraffe Man can see something on his hidden cameras.
By the way, one of the hamsters is called Fred, and he is very friendly. Wears a small Chicago Bulls cap, Boston Red Sox socks, and LA Lakers underpants.

Giraffe 1st August 2022 10:54 AM

Yes, they escalated our ticket and then told us everything looks fine. So maybe it was just a temporary glitch and whichever rodent fell into the server finally burnt up.

Borborygmi 1st August 2022 11:44 AM

You know, people never seem to have anything nice to say about absentee landlords, but I think ours does a pretty good job. Thanks, Giraffe!

Sputnik 1st August 2022 12:39 PM

Thanks Giraffe

Random Precision 1st August 2022 05:09 PM

I had the board time out on me last night around 11:00 pm California time. After it came back up, everything worked normally.
I suspect they re-fribulated the frammistan. There's been a batch of bad frammistans on the market lately. :rebo:

Thanks! I wish I could say the same for those stupid tenants who keep arguing they can't pay more rent because their dumb kids need surgery or whatever. It's not my fault they tried to use the bathroom, I told them it didn't work!

Giraffe 2nd August 2022 08:15 AM

Um, on a giant pile of money? :m:

JimNightshade 2nd August 2022 10:01 AM

Do you serve them chocolate cake?

If you make a treasure hunt and hide the cake somewhere in the city, you can change the locks before they get back.
Then, the bath is all yours, and you will smell better.
Quite nifty if you ask me.

Burpy 2nd August 2022 10:13 AM

I am happy to have helped, and I accept the praise that the Giraffe Man had put upon me.
It was really nothing.

It is ok. I was famous for a short while, and it was good.
