As opposed to some of the weirdos here, I like bacon on my burgers.

Jaglavak 19th March 2025 08:54 PM

Unfortunately I think Wendys is trying to accomplish too much in one burger. Between the beef and the cheese and the bacon, the thing sets up into a solid lump of grease after a few minutes under the heat lamps. Acceptable road rations perhaps, but I'll take a kosher dog over that every time.

I meant to vote the other way; I should have voted for The Baconator

Rat Diva 20th March 2025 05:21 AM

@Pogo I fixed your vote.

And voted for the Baconator. Although I prefer the Son of Baconator, because double burgers are too much for me these days.

Bacon on a burger is just too much fat. It gets in the way of the actual flavor. And don't give me this fat is flavor nonsense. Starch is sugar but you don't go sticking your head into a sack of flour when you want to satisfy your sweet tooth, sometimes there is too much and it gets in the way of actual taste.

That sausage looks amazing, I have never had one but I know the baconater is gross as heck. :barf:

Maybe this should be called the BaconHator? I agree it's too much of a good thing, and the junior version is a better option. I've never had it but Maxwell's looks intriguing. Except what's up with the cut ends? I can't have that. Baconator it is.

Borborygmi 20th March 2025 09:18 AM

I'm not as gung-ho about bacon on a cheeseburger as I once was, but I don't want to talk about it too much lest people think I'm stanning for NAF's madman campaign against bacon cheeseburgers. All that aside, I'm surprised how little the Baconator does for me. I quickly voted for the Maxwell Street Polish Sausage because even though I've never had one I thought it looked great. After voting I started to question the combination of mustard and grilled onions, but I still think it was the right call.

Even though I disagree with you about baconburgers, the quoted section is one of my favorite posts of yours that I have read. I trim my steak and I have had friends give me the fat=flavor bit and then grab my trimmings and eaten them. It reminds me of Chris Elliott on Letterman.

I prefer sausage with onions and peppers and no mustard, but it's still better than the Baconator.
