Yeah, I've been burned (not literally) by that stuff before. It wasn't gloppy, but it was milky and did a shitty job cleaning paint brushes. General opinion is that they add some hydroxyl or other polar groups to aliphatics to make a water emulsion. Problem is those groups make them more reactive than standard aliphatics. Plus a water emulsion isn't going to be as good at dissolving/diluting organics.
Off to the grocery store to get supplies for today's working crew. The original reason for the visit is that Mom and Dad are bringing Swimmy's birthday present a bit early so she has nice weather to enjoy it. Her birthday's not for a couple weeks, and it's an outdoor present. The present delivery morphed into dinner, which expanded into Brother coming over to get suitcases from Mom (our house is the midpoint between Bro and Mom), which turned into "while you're here can you please help us move heavy shit?"
