Older movies taht would be cool in 3D
So cousin Crayons has a 3D projector and we were visiting over the weekend to check it out. It got me thinking... It is currently possible to take a movie filmed for 2D and do a post-production conversion to 3D.
Presently, the overall image quality suffers a bit — ex/ The Last Air Bender looked particularly shitty and murky (and it was also crap) — but there may be a point soon-ish where the conversion would actually look OK. I've always been kind of "meh" on 3D when used as a gimmick for sub-par flicks, but I was thinking there are a few movies that truly would look visually outstanding.
The Dark Crystal: Amazing puppet characters and innovatively designed universe. There's already such a great, sculptural look to so much of it. Like imagine those creatures that were done with poeple on four-legged stilts!
Time Bandits and the Adventures of Baron von Munchausen: granted in 3D some of the effects might suffer because they may have aged poorly a bit over time.
Raiders of the Lost Ark: some of the stunt work would be awesome!
Anything else?
