When it comes to delivering orders when they say they will, Amazon is now 2-3 in my last five orders. Of the three bad orders, two were flat-out lost, and one came 2 days later.

One of the ones that was lost was today - I was going to leave the house around 12:15, but as I stood up from my desk to get ready, I got an Amazon notification: "your package is 8 stops away!" Since one of the items was an SSD for a client, replacing The World's Slowest Hard Drive in their laptop, I figured I'd wait for it. The Prime van came down my street, made a u-turn and never came back. So I tracked it all day. I don't know if the drivers make it up as they go, or if Amazon has some kind of GPS system they follow... but the driver next delivered packages in the subdivision next door, then went down a long road by a small lake, then went down a road behind our old townhouse, then went back down the lake road, then went back to the subdivision next door, then went past my road again, then back up. Nothing made any sense: why deliver packages to an address in the back of a large subdivision, then drive three miles away, then come back to that same subdivision to deliver stuff the next street over?

Well, long story short, Amazon said they delivered my order at 16:33, when I have a screen cap showing that the my order was still listed as "out for delivery" at 16:29 and the driver had already returned to the nearby Amazon Fulfillment Center. It's six miles from my house to the Fulfillment Center; according to Google Maps it's a 13 minute drive now with minimal traffic. Think the driver was somehow able to make that drive during rush hour in 4 minutes? Nah.

EDIT: While chatting with Amazon's "Gosh, I wish there was something I could do!" customer service, I ordered the same SSD from BestBuy.com for same-day pick-up at the same price. Before the Amazon CSR and I were done, I got a text that my Best Buy order was ready for (curbside) pickup.
