VLC is okay but I infinitely prefer installing the K-Lite Codec pack because with that onboard you can play EVERYTHING and it includes Media Player Classic which is bulletproof and low profile. Been using that for well over 15 years and like eight computers now, never steers me wrong. I like Foobar for music. I'm very open source oriented.
