I do recall hearing about the Avast/AVG acquisition a while back, so by this point it's just long exposure to AVG's particular brand of annoying that keeps me from switching lol. It all works, I don't visit many dodgy places and my VPN helps keep things from biting my ass too so I don't worry about it all that much. I also use NoScript, which can be a giant PITA when you go to a new website but I find it worthwhile when I DO go to dodgy places. I don't recommend it for anyone who isn't persistent though because after a fairly short time you'll just disable it and what's the point then?
