And AdBlock Plus and uBlock Origin are different forks of the same extension--you only need one of the two. I suggest uBlock Origin because it's truer to the original concept of NO ADS AT ALL DAMMIT whereas AdBlock Plus has caved and now allows certain targeted ads through, which I find absolutely antithetical to the idea of an AD BLOCKER. YMMV, but I'm right.
Another way to make Chrome your default browser is through the settings menu in the browser itself. One of the first things that comes up is to check whenever you open it that it's the default browser. You can also specify in those settings which search engine you prefer. Personally, I get rid of any and all reminders that Edge and Bing even exist because fuck those fucking fucks who think that their OS is license to control people's experience.
