The really bad reactions - anaphylaxis - usually show up within 10 minutes of getting the shot. Some pamphlets even suggest patients stick around for 15 minutes to make sure they're not having a reaction. So if you get it at work, you're golden.
Other more minor reactions (aches, fever, etc.) show up later IME, but aren't usually life-threatening.
