My dad was into boats—I wasn't particularly into that, but I spent a lot of time on them. I always wore regular sneakers. I can't remember if he had boat shoes.
The mention of "boat shoes" makes me think of that scene in
Caddyshack where Danny shows up at the club in full yachting regalia.
