For most of my thirty year career I was a manufacturing engineer responsible for assembly lines and test equipment that ran two or three shifts. I was pretty much always on call if something broke. Landline, beeper, cell and finally smartphone. It didn't matter. The calls typically weren't frequent. It was part of the job.
