If the second one isn't also formidably ancient, yeah, they're nice that way.
I wouldn't even rule out their willingness to help with old old hardware, it's just that they don't necessarily have the familiarity.
Less than 3 months ago I bought a used vintage-2018 MacBook Pro off eBay and needed to roll the OS back from Big Sur (MacOS 11) to Mojave (MacOS 10.14). They did it for me, didn't charge me a nickel, were very helpful. It took them two tries to get it right (something got lost in the notes and they instead upgraded it to Ventura the first time) but you can't beat free and helpful.
