It's been another long minute, and I'll admit, I haven't read the prior pages and scrolled yet. I see some of you have been dealing with storm and power issues, and I hope those are resolved soon.
I have decided to retire. My last working day was the 30th, and my official retirement date is the end of September. This is not how I wanted to retire, or even WHEN I wanted to retire, but the constant nastiness and threats coming from back east were just unbearable, and I was sick of it. So, I'm closing the books on 42 years of service and going out on my terms.
It doesn't feel real, I'm numb, and it hasn't quite sunk in yet.
However, I haven't had a summer off since I was 11, and I plan to enjoy it for now. Who knows what doors will open? I may plan to find a job or just be retired and volunteer here and there.

Retirement is great. I went through a time during COVID of being unemployed. As COVID was winding down I got a good offer, fairly close to home that would let me Work From Home for 4 days a week and realized, I could retire and didn't want to start over again.
I really like not working and especially not commuting.
