We here in our corner of the High Plains have escaped the devastating snowfall, but the bitter cold has touched a lot of people, and not in a nice way. As I previously chronicled, both my BIL and I have suffered frozen plumbing around our water wells or pressure tanks; today our MIL got chased out of her 100+ year-old house by minor flooding after a pipe froze under the laundry room (she's staying with us tonight, the plumber comes out tomorrow.) Plumbers, furnace folk, and car-starters are swamped with calls.
