I've noticed quite a few new faces in the last couple of days. So I've decided to pretend to be a friendly person and welcome you all to the Giraffe Boards!

So welcome to Postmodern Memory, Yogurt, WOOKINPANUB, Tamsen, Phrasework, The Green Zebra, Jsor, Carnivorousplant, deek, Lazarus, nyctea scandiaca, RedXiongmao, Eleanor of Aquitaine, smartgirl63_\@yahoo.com, Flounder King, and anyone else I've missed (I was just going through the most recently joined members on the member list and had to stop somewhere). I left out mswas because, frankly, he's had enough of a welcome.

Come on in! Tell us a bit about yourselves! I will be grading you on poise and grammar.

And ChileanBlob, which you must admit is about the coolest username ever. So far all we know about her is that she nearly killed herself slipping in the shower. But, neat as that is, she probably doesn't want to go through the rest of message board life as that poor failed bathroom acrobat.

That's quite a lot of generalization there. None of it is true.

I've continually maintained and continue to maintain that Giraffe is a great leader of this message board.

I can't even address your accusation that I supposedly think that cliques will drive away new posters. I have no idea where that idea comes from. Perhaps you're confusing me with someone else, or obviously misreading my point from some other thread.

I asked if Mbossa deliberately left out Silverstreak Wonder because he noted in his OP that he left out mswas deliberately. I thought he might have done the same with Silverstreak Wonder since SW had already posted quite a bit in the Pit by the time I saw this thread. That's all.

While I can't dispute that this place is what it is, because well, that's just a truism, it has only been how it is currently for a short time.

When this place first started out, it was exceedingly friendly to lurkers. Many of the original threads were long threads where lurkers from the SDMB posted about how they got bad treatment when they tried to break into the SDMB and were so happy to be given a chance to start out fresh and start posting and we did and look how we're treated and piled on and tagged.
