Monster Mash-ups
Okay, what do we got?
There's the unicorn, but I'm not sure that's a mash-up. It's a horse plus a narwhal? The pegasus, of course, horse + bird. Griffin / Gryphon: lion + eagle. Sphinx: feline + human (sometimes + bird wings). Minotaur: bull + human. We should probably stick to mythology; if we start adding Dungeons and Dragons creatures, we'll be here 'til Spring. Also, might want to avoid gods, since that gets into a different kettle of fish (with human heads or something). How many do we have in addition to these? If we settle on a list, I'll whip up a poll. |

A manticore is like a sphinx with a spiky tail (also sometimes winged).

Rodan?

Rodan was just a giant mutant pterodactyl, basically.
Echidna (not the monotreme) was a monstrous human/snake, and apparently the mother of all sorts of other monsters. There's the chimera - head of a lion, and a goat, and a serpent for a tail, with bat wings. |
