Felt vs. MC: Mafia Day 5 Thread

With sunlight and a fresh cop claim, the group seemed renewed and hopeful. Even the background music seemed to turn backwards, to fix the wrongs of the previous Day. Hope! Vigor! Was Giraffe revived? No. But there was cheerful news to be had:

No-one died.

Day 5 ends at 9:40 PM MDT, on Sunday, March 20th.

Also: since the players are few at this point, I will entertain a hammer from toDay on. Vote Hammer in Orange. ToDay, the hammer number is 4. The 4th person to hammer ends the Day.

Pede, since you are still awake, can you explain the hammer in a few words? This is the first game I've been in where it has been used when I have been alive. I know it has to do with a certain number of people voting for one person, but what does it mean to vote "Hammer" in orange?

NETA:

Does someone already have to be on the block for a lynch and then 4 people "second the motion" by posting "Hammer" (in orange)?

Ah, well, in this case, I am simply using the word "hammer" to mean "end the day", by way of metonymy. If four people "post 'Hammer' (in orange)", the Day ends. Theoretically, you all could end the Day before voting for anyone, and no-one would be lynched (but that would be silly).

The whole Lucifer situation stinks. Obviously it'll be have to be dealt with eventually, because if he's scum, we don't want him hanging around and if he's Town, he's worthless to us not-playing and won't be good if it gets down to 3-5 players.

If Town, though, he'd be an easy, extra Town lynch for scum.

I hate mass claims, but given this from Romola last Night:

For what my opinion's worth after my Giraffe debacle, I would be inclined to put SisC as scum rather than Bob, for her reluctant conversion to a bad cause that looked like a good one. But they could both be scum. Haven't done numbers, but I doubt very much that Ulla's the last.
And given my spotty-at-best voting history, I'm a logical Town target. Therefore:

If you would be lynched for the first time, you can instead restart time with yourself at the spawn point, evading the lynch mob.
So, who wants to go back to Day 1 and start all over?

So why does no one seem interested in voting for Total Ulla ?

Why no discussion as to why no deaths last Night ?

Ok let me start then.

Vote Total Ulla

I am happy to accept Romolas claim and findings at this point... not only because I know I'm TOWN but because I can't see her claiming this late in the game and giving up another SCUM member just to gain cred...

If she is lying then she goes toMorrow it's as simple as that.

I feel it's possible that given the timing of her claim, there could have been some form of roleblocking going on last Night which meant that the SCUM kill did not go through or , like I said on Day 3 (I think) SCUM may have been able to pull a couple of kills forward and get rid of a couple of normaly active and investagative (as in post a lot asking a lot of questions ) within the game . Or SCUM targeted the pesron I protected.

Sister Coyote, though I have no real reason to not believe your claim... I am surprised that you're the first Vanilla we've had show up. Apart from BillMc whose alignment we have yet to find out... every other body or claim has had some sort of power.

Also , Idle Thoughts proposed a mass claim. Why so quick to claim without discussion of it's merits ?

Romola I know you've asked to be subbed so it's unlikely you'll be around but I am hoping that you managed to get an investigation in.

On preview I see we have yet another TOWN power claim... BobArrgh have you inquired as to exactly the nature of your power. To me it sounds like some sort of scotsman role..

Answering your last question first: Because I realized that I might end up on the chopping block based on last Night's commentary by Romola plus my lack of votes at the beginning of the game plus my generally bad play this game. Therefore, I figured I might as well.

Regarding your second: Why would I claim Vanilla unless I was?

When Romola makes her claim in the Night 4 thread she lists her results...

Yes I see they can be seen as conveniant as one person isn't participating but it's good enough for me at the moment.

A vanilla claim is the most conveniant for SCUM as it doesn't stand a chance of clashing with a power that TOWN might have.

While I'm not going to argue this for a second, I would like to observe that it is common thinking around these parts -- therefore, a VT claim is likely to get someone lynched, despite the fact that claiming a false role is worse for both Town and VT in the long run.

And, yeah, Scum would Totally Do That but I have to run with what I've got.

How many SCUM do people think we have left ?

I ask because if this is a real bold claim by Romola and she's lying , would she be prepared to give one SCUM up to gain cred ?

Like I say I know I'm TOWN but don't know about the others.. With Lucifer being a non participant , he could be SCUM but she'd know that we might take a couple more Days before we lynch him...

BUT that would mean that there were 3 SCUM left... Total Ulla Romola and Lucifer. To me that just seems too many, given that Peekercpa also had the chance to join the SCUM team... 5 SCUM in a 15 player game ? That's a reason for me to believe Romola.

A reason not to is because the claim says she gets results from random.org and it states she might look at the same player... or a dead one or even the mod.... so if she does come back toDay with a dead players result or someone who has already been investigated. I think it's worth bearing in mind..

I'd like to think that we only have 1 Scum left, but as you pointed out, Moody, there could be 1 or 2 more. I'm inclined to think that Lucifer is a Scum, but I have nothing tangible to back that up, so I'm probably wrong. If he is a Scum, my guess is that he is just a goon, or that he had a power in the early game but used it. I can't see a Scum power role asking to be subbed out.

I'm a little tweaked by Sister's PM. Being the only person to have claimed VT out of 15 players is more than a little odd. I checked the Rules thread, and we don't have a sample Role. I thought that was Pede's way of indicating that everyone in the game had a power. Can anyone confirm her VT PM?

I think I believe Romola's investigation, but want to hear what Ulla has to say for herself before putting a vote down. I don't want to put down a premature vote and then get suckered by having 2 Townies and 2 Scum drop the hammer and force a mislynch.

I think it is very interesting that there were no kills last Night. Were the Scum blocked? Did they miss the deadline?

Speaking of mass claims, Idle, have you received further clarification of your role besides having a radio you can't find?

No, but obviously that is moot now since I know Romanic is Town. The only reason I couldn't find it (I'm guessing) was to give a reason why I couldn't send a message back to him (and thus find out/know if he was Town or something else).

Anyway, I don't like the vanilla claim..and, to be honest, I've had a growing suspicion of Sister Coyote for awhile now, so she'd be the person now at the top of my suspicion list.
But really, everyone's sort of bunched near the top other than Mitch.
Ulla I could see being scum, Bob I can see being scum (still didn't like how he just knew BillMc was Town--I'm pretty sure we still don't know what he was). Romola...ehh..maybe...
Mitch is the only person I'm more pro-Town than anything (since nobody else has counterclaimed full Doc and I can't see a game only having a weak Doc for the only protection role for Town).

But back to Sis. She, it seems, is the ONLY vanilla role in the whole game, as far as I can see (at least until Ulla claims). Everyone else is some kind of role. It smells like a cover up claim she's giving. My guess would be she has the type of role that, if explained, would probably be seen as a scum role.

A lone vanilla has happened before. I have presented my role PM exactly as it was given to me; and if I were Scum I wouldn't have been so forthcoming about claiming. I'm generally opposed to mass claims, anyway.

Or maybe I'm a Jester, Idle, and today's the day I need to get myself killed.

On the plus side if Lucifer is SCUM at least that's one SCUM member that's not been voting ...

I guess it could be said in reverse as we want all TOWN members to use their vote.

BobAargh you've popped back in but not answered my query as to whether you've asked the Mod for clarification about what your power actually entails... IE if it's a kind of Scotsman type thing ?

Idle Thoughts. If Sister Coyote has as you say , posted a Vanilla PM because they felt that the role they had been given could come across as SCUMMY... (and we've already seen this with Giraffe). Why not just post it and fend off the questions.... If now she comes back and say's "yeah you're right" and gives us a different PM, we'd have the problem of her having lied in the first place.

We're still waiting for Total Ulla and Lucifer to claim .. I doubt we'll hear from Lucifer and I know Total Ulla has stated that she's a bit busy at the moment but I would hope that she could find time to pop in and add her views to the game..

None, Bob. That's the point. Pede gives me investigation results each morning for a target he has chosen by random.org. I have no control over the target. I was lucky with the first 3, but toDay, he gave me results for Peeker, who is dead already and we already knew was Town.

I doubt that i can post any more in this game, lynch Ulla, she is confirmed scum. Go Town!

Hoot mon, laddie ... it looks like I am a Scotsman, although I prefer the Irish part of me family (from County Cork, oh so many years ago). The Scots may speak a form of Gaelic, but they are too close to their Sassenach kin for my tastes.
