Board shenanigans...

Okay, this has been happening for a while and it's finally started annoying me enough to actually bitch about it, so here goes.

I log in at work to the boards, it says "howdy, thanks for logging in," then I hit the new posts button and it kicks me out after saying there are no new posts. I log back in a second time, and lo and behold, I'm looking at the new posts screen the board just told me there were none of. WTF is that all about, anyway?

For the record, I use the mobile skin as default in case I need to get onboard with my phone, then I change it to the regular M-style once I'm logged in because giraffes up trees make me giggle.

As with most vBulletin problems, I suspect this one will be fixed by either clearing your cache or deleting your GB cookies. Something in the data the board is storing has gotten borked, so wiping it out and starting over is probably the only way to get things back to normal.

That started happening to me when I made a custom search list for the New Posts in User CP. I sign in again and everything works. It also happens when photos are attachments instead of links. I have Firefox set to accept cookies, and delete them on shutdown.

That's weird, I thought your solution to everything was to install another giant, low resolution smiley.

Your skin options seem odd. I use M-style as default for my laptops because giraffes up trees make me giggle too. But I picked mobile on my phone and it remembers without switching to M-style.

My fone r dum, and it was getting unwieldy to have to scroll down a mile to change the skin back when the internet cafe at work was down--now that it's back up I don't log in with my phone all that often and I never (or darned seldom) log out at home so I can't be arsed to change it.

As for the cookie thing, this is happening on a work computer that does not keep cookies at all so that can't be the explanation--heck, on my home computer, which does understand and keep cookies I never have this issue even if I have to log out and clear cookies for the occasional lightspeed file not found error. I suspect it has to do with my customized forum search set, since Jag's getting a similar error, that would make sense since this wasn't happening back before we could customize it. Since I like my custom search I will resign myself to having to log in twice when I'm at work. The burdens of life threaten to overcome me, sigh.
