Autocorrecting common browser typos
In Word, you can set up customized autocorrects, so that if you regularly make the same typo, for example you always write "Mustard Taints" instead of Mustard Stain, it will fix it for you?
Does any browser allow you to do that for URL you occasionally need to type* but always screw up? You now, so I don't accidentally visit a site called Twatter (when I'm at work). *Yes, I know that's what bookmarks are for, but I often have to proof new stuff that's not already bookmarked but has part of the same URL. |

I believe IE10 when it is released will auto-correct as well as have spell checking. But that browser will only work for Windows 7.
There is URL Fixer, an add-on for Firefox, I can't find an equivalent for IE. |

I could see the utility in that (99 times out of 100, I'll type officedeopt.com), but I can see it being aggravating, too (correcting things that it shouldn't).
One thing you might be able to do in Firefox is to add the bad address as a keyword for the bookmark. For instance, you could bookmark twitter.com and add twatter.com as the keyword. I'm not sure if you can have multiple keywords or not (to cover twatter and twatter.com, for instance). Or you could go old-school and edit the HOSTS file on your computer. |
