What do you know (traffic light version)?

Without disclosing any more than you are comfortable with, on what topics would you consider yourself

1. Expert; ask away, I know my shit
2. Somewhat knowledgeable; you are taking a chance if you cite me to others
3. No business asking me whatsoever. I am the antithesis of an expert on this topic.

3. Pretty much everything else.
3a. Especially cats.

1. There probably are subjects I could put here, but I lack the confidence to claim them.
2. To varying degrees: paleontology, geology, museum studies, cultural resource management, Godzilla.
3. Everything, including the above subjects too, probably.

1) Given time to reflect, not very damn much

2) A slightly larger list that includes gun stuff.

3) You'll have to ask Ken about this.

1. Damned near everything and what I don't know I can generally fake convincingly enough to fool anyone who doesn't know anything about it.
2. Mechanical engineering, particularly HVAC and energy management systems. That and science fiction.
3. Anything in People magazine or on the E! Channel and the Twilight movies.

1. Well, naturally, English composition, writing, grammar, that kinda' crap. Also journalism, mass communications. Oh, and customer service. I know way more about customer service than I ever wanted to know.

2. I'm conversant in history, mostly of the "Western Civilization" type, literature, some music. Also things like carpentry, cabinet making, general building trades. Don't hire me to build your house, but I'm a good contractor's assistant.

3. I know squat about the sciences, international politics & diplomacy, law, medicine, engineering, business & finance, or women. Or anything else that isn't mentioned in either (1) or (2).

Of course, knowing squat about something will never prevent me from having an opinion about it.

1. Acute care nursing (for the most part-there's tons I don't know, but it's other health care professionals that would see that)

2. Parenting, being a suburban soccer mom, ok, not much.

3. Automotive repair, engineering anything, computers, Library science (oddly enough-and it's something that is actually hard to find information on--concrete, usable, non-fluffy abstruse stuff, that is), online behavior (still inexplicable after all these years!), humans, religion not historically based, sex as practiced online, romance ditto, life, really.

This is a cool way to get to know people here (ha no pun intended) but also to assess levels of knowledge in myself. (I wanted to write "ourselves" but it sounded corny).

I will say upfront that I took Riggs' med assessment and recommendations on Saturday night and she was spot on.

Let's see, for me...
1. Buddhist theory; psychology esp recovery; substance abuse issues; running; working out (gym, Bikram yoga, Pilates apparatus); basic diet/nutrition/health; 80's pop trivia (and some 70's); current crappy reality television (the worse it is, the more I know); how to read music; how to process b&w film and raku firing of ceramics
2. organizational management and systems development; art history; basic health care, environmental, and human rights laws, policy, and issues; play the flute; cooking; speak and read French
3. comprehensive politics; in-depth computer shit; high level math and science; and mostly, I know what I DON'T know

Now I am singing a Paul Simon song "I know what I know..."
