This is no contest. By Spaceballs Brooks was waaay past his prime. Put up Airplane against Young Frankenstein or Blazing Saddles* (or even Silent Movie or High Anxiety) and it would've been left in the dust.



*I have a BS DVD with 'commentary' track by Brooks. It's a bit painful to listen to, because he's just rambling about the movie, without ever referring to what's happening on screen, I just checked him on IMDb. He turned 90 a little more than a week ago, so I feel that his rambling was justified, pushing 80 at the time of recording.

ETA: Hot damn, he's still working. In production and voice acting in something called Blazing Samurai.
