Celebrity Career Death Pool
Like the Celebrity Death Pool, only with who's gonna' be the next guy toppled by his past. We should have started this after Charlie Rose.
I'm not sure how these work -- we all just list the people we think most likely will be next or at least punted by the end of the year? Anyway, I'm putting Harrison Ford out there. Just for the hell of it. |

Good idea. I'd put my money mostly on newsies. They love going after politicians and celebrities, so when they get a chance to eat one of their own, they do it with alacrity to show how much integrity they have.
So, my nominee: Anderson Cooper. (no relation) Last edited by Tad Cooper; 29th November 2017 at 09:34 AM. |

Not really sure. Joss Wheldon and Bryan Singer have both been accused of improprieties and they still seem to be working. Not sure if another one would be a death blow or not.
Then again, Victor Salva's still working and he's admitted to and served time in prison for having oral sex with a twelve year old boy. And video-taping it. |

Well, if Keillor is to be believed, this one has a bit of a bad aroma to it. It almost sounds like "a likely story," but only almost. Nope. This guy made a living out of getting women to strip live in the studio. His "normal" is so far over the top anything less than forcible rape wouldn't raise an eyebrow.
Too late. He's dead. Chelsea Handler? And the complainant won't be a man, but a woman. |

Harrison Ford's misbehavior of choice was usually vast amounts of pot. His driver for Indiana Jones movies said he used to smoke a joint every day on the way to set, so reading the script while puffing. I'd figure he was too stoned to do much more than gnosh at the craft table.

I always thought The Divine Miss M was a little batty in that creative, unpredictable way that pushes really good entertainers into the realm of greatness. Anyone who can sing "The Rose" the way she does and then play Winnie Sanderson in "Hocus Pocus" is just a tad unhinged. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that she has been somewhat sexually adventurous in her life, to the delight and pleasure of anyone she invited along on those adventures. But the key word here is "invite."
Different women see these incidents differently; it's possible that not every woman whose ass was grabbed by Al Franken was offended by it. That's not saying standards are higher or lower, just different places on the spectrum. But whether a woman feels violated or not shouldn't be the definition of acceptable behavior. Midler probably has bigger things to worry about than Rivera's pervitude, but that's no comment whatsoever on the perviness of what Rivera (allegedly) did. It was wrong; Miss M simply declines to dwell on it. |

Are you kidding? She says she can't remember if she fucked him or not. Midler doesn't mess around.

That is probably the sickest burn of all time. I think I'm going to start referring to very, very, very dull things as "Geraldo Rivera forgettable".

On second thought, considering the poppers, she could mean that she doesn't remember because she was drugged. Making what he did rape. It's kind of amazing how she's like "I shouldn't say this, I'll get in trouble" and then described being drugged and sexually assaulted, and then she and Walters laugh it off like, oh, those Hollywood shenanigans!
Horrifying. |

Nah, I'd say you had it right the first time. I bet she remembers her conquests just fine.

Actually, she said they broke some poppers under her nose and then got all grabby. She didn't say the poppers --whatever those are -- actually worked. Back in the day "poppers" were amyl nitrate and I assume that's what she's referring to. So she wasn't "drugged" -- poppers had less effect than a toke of marijuana, if my sources were correct, but they were legal, so kids used them instead of pot. I agree with Jaglavak -- if she'd strapped Geraldo on, either she'd remember it or he was eminently forgettable.

Midler was rather wild in her early days. I remember a story from those days about her doing stage shows sans panties and twirling around on stage, making her skirt float up.
What that has to do with harassment, I haven't the faintest idea. |

Didn't figure it would actually be just twelve hours. (For those who haven't heard: Franken announced today that he will be resigning his Senate seat. This is stunning, and I have no idea what to make of it.)

Here's what I hope: I hope that, after Franken resigns, he goes home, gets his shit back together, writes a book, and then runs again. That gives all of the women he offended ample opportunity to come forward. And if he runs and gets elected again, nothing can touch him. He's done his penance, spent his time in purgatory, given all of his accusers a chance to come forward. If they don't speak up during his next campaign, they relinquish their right to be heard.

Nobody ever relinquishes their right to be heard. Especially not by their comfort in disclosing sexual assault or harassment not happening to fit into a convenient political timeline.

Mercy. Has Congress suddenly gotten religion? At this rate there won't be anyone left.
Franken himself noted the irony of his action compared to the inaction of the occupant of the Oval Office, who has much, much more to be ashamed of. |

They are actually endorsing a child molester. They have elected an admitted sexual predator . |

Regarding Franken: he's doing the right thing, resigning from his office. He can go home, sort out his priorities, maybe write a book and try the $peaking circuit. But he'll never escape the stigma of actions leading up to his departure. And he shouldn't attempt to try.

Not sure I can agree with that. There is photographic evidence of Franken groping women. The only evidence against Trump is an audio recording of him bragging (lying?) about doing things that nobody has actually corroborated.

Got an email from Sen Jeff Merkley this morning calling for Trump's resignation due to his disgusting habit of sexual assault.
Let's not lose sight of the signed flight logs from Epstein's "Lolita Express" that have Trump's name all over them (along with Bill Clinton's, who even ditched his Secret Service detail in order to have unmonitored fun on Epstein's private rape island) and that suit has been brought against him by a girl who was thirteen when he raped her onboard the plane. Trump is attempting briskly to deny he knew Epstein but is having about as much luck with that as he is with claiming the Access Hollywood tape isn't of him speaking. Yes, several suits have been brought by Trump's victims but oddly enough tend to get dropped due to threats. Hmmm. Wonder why women don't come forward more often? |
