How do you make a dance remix?

You know how on Youtube, there will be one video and then someone will make a remix of it with music? Like that kid whose baby brother bit him. How do you do that?
As always, speak to me slowly, as if to a babbling moron.
Because, well.....

Jeez, I see why they call ya Lungfish!

BTW, here's the gist of that article:
Step 1 Have a lot of technical knowledge already
Step 2 Proceed

Here's more info on my project. I have some spoken words recorded in Audacity. I want to space them out and add like a disco beat or something. Help the slow girl?

Funny, I read the article as:

Step 1: Blah, blah, blah
Step 2: Blah, blah, blah
Step 3: .....................

I read your completely OP wrong.

To space out the words you add in silence between two sections of your recording. To add silence, put the cursor where you'd like a space. Then go to the "Generate" menu and select "Silence."

Adding background music is done by going to "Project" > Import Audio and double clicking on selected music. Goto "Effect" to change the volume level (amplify) and to fade in and fade out the music, etc.

Here is a vid that demonstrates how you add music to an audacity recording: Linky.

I thought the OP was going to be about real dance remixes (i.e. the kind you hear in clubs). Even though it's not, I thought I'd share an anecdote with you:

Although the occasional remix existed for some time prior, they're thought to have been "officially" created in 1975. In that year, Donna Summer approached producer Giorgio Moroder with the idea for a song which contained the phrase "love to love you baby". Moroder and Summer worked on it and created a disco masterpiece, a tape of which they sent to Casablanca Records president Neil Bogart. Bogart played the song at a "party" (where "party" = "cocaine-fueled orgy"). While he loved the song, he hated having to stop doing blow\having sex\doing blow while having sex every 4 minutes to rewind the tape. And so, at Bogart's request, Moroder created a nearly 17-minute version of the song, "Love to Love You Baby".

Although, as mentioned, extended versions of songs had been released here and there before, this was the first real "dance remix" of a song. It was the first 12" single to sell in any meaningful quantity, and (FWIW), the full version of the track was included on Summer's next album, where it took up one entire side of the disc.

Really interesting story. Funny, I just added Spring Affair to my pod this weekend - hadn't thought about Donna Summer for years before this.
