Felt vs. MC: Day 1 Thread

Welcome to this lovely mansion. I am your host this evening. Please, take some of the food, dance a little while, but, I beg, do not become a boor. We shall get to the killing in a little while, don't worry. In the meantime, I encourage you to

Okay, that shtick is going to get old fast. No color (pun intended) is worth making all of the moderator posts white. Anyway, you all wake up in a MANSION filled with various DEADLY INSTRUMENTS and INSTRUMENTERS, though you do not know who they are. You'd like to KILL THEM, but you get the feeling that MOST OF YOU WILL DIE in the process. There are also a variety of SECRET POWERS, which will be revealed in due time.

Who shall you kill?

Day 1 ends at 10:00 PM, MDT on Sunday, February 20th, unless anyone really hates that.

Please confirm receipt of Role PMs when you get them.

All Role PMs have been sent. I think. Maybe. If you accidentally get two, that's because I lost count somewhere and the board doesn't automatically save PMs. If you didn't get one, PM me.

Confirmed.

re: saving PMs, I had that problem too once. Go to User CP > edit options > messaging & notification. There should be a check box to save sent PMs.

Confirming and still a bit unsure what to do with the new voting-system.
Anyone have any idea how it can be used in a pro-town way?

I'm just thinking that we should all use our votes (as in normal mafia) but this way some of us might not vote toDay because we want to have extra votes later in the game.
At the same time that would make it easier for scum to manipulated toDays lynch, right?

On the other hand having the votes later in the game (when we'll have more information) could be a huge plus for town - because votes are more "valuable" later in the game.

Am I making sense?

Yeah I understand what you are trying to say, but at the same time: We have more information later in the game in large part because people have been voting and getting lynched and killed, so hoarding up votes till then is less meaningful because we will have less information than usual (although not less information than today).

confirming and regarding the voting it does seem odd.

i am i reading it correctly that i can pull votes to current from the future?

if so:

vote story

from Days 100 - 999. if my math is correct that gives him 900 votes, right?

I came to the same conclusion as you, skeez. vote-banking doesn't really provide us with any record, it's kind of the same as a non-vote in that way. I can also see scum maybe banking votes for later in an effort to swing some lynches late in the game.

I can see a situation where it could be wise for confirmed townies to bank votes for a later time, if their vote doesn't make a difference on that particular day.

And pulling votes from the future just complicates things even more. I mean if someone is up for lynch, whether town or scum, it would seem at first glance to be in their best interest to pull all their future votes to save themselves. This could get kind of nuts.

Or maybe it wouldn't be as beneficial for town, as scum might just leave them alive since they'd have used up all their votes. Maybe in that situation it could benefit scum more to use that ploy? And maybe that could possibly be a scum tell?

I need to think about this some more.

I guess we can look at it in various ways.

Someone who thinks that that probably wont live past Day3 could pull votes forward, thus giving them 2 votes on the first 3 days. It could also be used to save your neck from the lynch.

However, if they made it to Day5 they would be voteless for the rest of the game - so would be a detriment to town.

Anyone banking their vote for toMorrow must obviously think they have a good chance of making it through the day/night; anyone banking for further in the future must have a very good reason why they think they will live that long.

Which leaves an interesting scenario around the lynch

Say 15 of us decided X was scummy and all voted for X
So X can bring a vote from the future and lay them on Y
So at the last minute, concievably, 12 of the 15 could unvote and save their vote for the next day

Bleh. Nevermind. I just re-read the rules. My scenario isn't possible. I don't think I've read an instruction manual in over 10 years, either.

You also can only move one vote to the future/past per day (barring potential paradoxes), and you can't stack more than two votes on any particular day (since that would allow for ridiculousness).

Don't worry, guys. On Day six, I'm going to travel back to Day one and tell myself which players we've learned are scum and which are Town. Then we can vote for the scum.

I'd regard anyone who removed their vote (from a runaway lynch leader) late on in the Day with high suspicion. To me it would be an easy ploy for SCUM to build up a stash of votes especially early on in the game .

Banking votes for the future makes a player more powerful, while taking vote from the future makes someone less powerful. So in a perfect world, the vanillas would be banking their votes, and the pro-town would vote normally (or twice, pulling one from the future).

But of course this would make it too easy for the Scums to spot our best roles. We can't be so obvious, right?

vote X on day 2

Zeener, whats the vote for?

Romanic, by my reckoning you have just made a claim softer than a 30 second egg. I'm tempted to vote for you. Is this correct?

Just to at Ed.

Actually, the setup has me wondering how effect any votes can be at determining who is Scum and who isn't. Since Day One usually trudges along at a snail's pace, I thought to juice up the mechanism with a preliminary vote in the future. Ed was the closest target.

Per the rules, Player X may be designated on the day by voting that person "from Day One", at which point our Mod will come back to Day One and substitute that player instead of "X". So Romanic will have two opportunities to vote on the day in question, but one of them must be "from Day One" and, presumably, can't be changed once designated.

Not a mistake I reconsidered:

4 days, 3 hours and 47 minutes to the end of Day 1

Vote Count:
Special Ed (1): Zeener Diode [Day 1 Post 30]

Not Voting: Sister Coyote, moody mitchy, peekercpa, RedSkeezix, Total Ulla, Romola, BillMC, Zuma, Special Ed, BobArrgh, Idle Thoughts, Giraffe, Lucifer

Voting in the Future: Romanic [Day 2]

Voting in the Past: N/A

With these votes Special Ed will be lynched.

So... you're saying I could place a "placeholder" vote on Day Whatever, and the Mod will determine which player receives it?

Yes, this.

X is a placeholder that you can define when the time comes. Basically I am keeping my Day 1 vote to use it on Day 2 (unless I unvote before the end of the Day).

No, you would decide where it goes, on Day Whatever, provided you were alive at the time.
