That's really funny. I suppose that people with MS operating systems who don't use IE have the minimal amount of awareness and knowledge to install something better. People using Safari have the means to get a more expensive system.

Just to show you how dumb IE users are:
Leonard Howard, the CEO of the company said that he has been receiving hate mail from IE users since yesterday. |

It does make a certain amount of sense. If someone is slow to catch on, they will resist learning a new system even if it's better. After all, they've just now figured out IE.

Er, I know I should stop using IE. My daughter keeps telling me so, and I know it's true. I just thought I should admit to being one of those folks who doesn't like change. Or something.
Carry on carrying on, please! Maybe you guys will inspire me. |

Download Chrome. It's fast, free and fabulous. Once you go Chrome, you get smart in the dome!

I'm not sure I buy this. I mean, I'm a long time Firefox fan, and typically only use IE when I have to. So I have no axe to grind here. But most of the articles I've seen summarizing the study group all IE users into one camp. Which isn't necessarily fair, as IE 6 users (the lowest of all users) are dragging down IE 8 users (which, while they ain't geniuses, score several points higher).
But my main issue with the study itself is why IE 9 users are ranked as less intelligent than IE 8 users? I mean, IE 8 is the last version of IE to run on XP, and XP hosts 74% of all malware infections. So it seems like stupid people using XP + IE 8 would make the numbers for IE 9 seem better. Also, how is it that most of the "alternate browsers" report (roughly) the same IQ level from 2006 to 2011... but Opera magically jumped 20+ IQ points in that same time frame? I'm calling BS on that "stat" alone. |

For some reason, I thought I remembered 'Raffers giving Chrome the thumbs-down, so I hadn't investigated it based on that. Has sentiment changed, or was I remembering wrong?

Eh. I think Chrome still sucks: it's more or less non-extensible for consumers and openly hostile to enterprise (Chrome Frame for IE). But that's just me. I'm sure the Google lovers will be along shortly to talk about how it's the best thing since electricity.

I like Chrome, but it's probably not as awesome as electricity. There's nothing wrong with Firefox either.

I'm forced to use IE at work. I hate it. I had to get one of the IT guys to change my IE settings so I could use tabs. Everyone else is still using separate windows for everything. Yes, they block access to all kinds of settings on our computers, so I couldn't change it myself. The same IT guy actually left my profile set up so I could keep making changes to my own settings though. They know I won't blow anything up, I guess. Apparently they don't trust the rest of my coworkers that far, though. Can't say I blame them
