Another Christian Nutjob
Pastor calls for atheists to be registered like sex offenders.

Normally I'd point and laugh and say something like "only in America" but we're having this whole abortion lunacy over here right now so I'll just sit quietly in the corner and keep shtum.

Not to defend the idiocy of it, but this is just some dipshit blogger with an "internet church." If anyone with any power gets this idea, I'll worry about it, but for now this is just PALATR material.

People with power are already doing it it is called demography. If you think the NSA doesn't have the word atheist in your file, you're kidding yourself.

There's a registry for terrorist cells? Where is it? I would like to know who all the terrorists in my neighbourhood are.

My terrorist cell is registered at Bloomingdale's.

Good luck individually polling 320 million people about their religious beliefs.
If this medieval throwback ever gets his list off the ground, I'll register as an atheist and then have a religious conversion every other week. Hmmm, I think I'll start with Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, and Pagan. |

You might want to be Muslin last. Because they tend to kill those who convert to something else.

In theory, but if you aren't genuinely part of a deeply religious Muslim community I don't think it really happens much.

He's clearly in possession of all the facts. Stand up guy, in my opinion. Anyone who wants to make a list of other people who have qualities that the list-maker doesn't like (and where they LIVE) must be a perfectly stable individual.

Hi. I've just moved into the area and by order of the blogosphere I am obligated to notify you of my belief in evolution. I apologize for the awkwardness of introducing myself this way, and I hope we can quickly put this all behind us and that soon you won't think of me any differently than anyone else in the neighborhood.

Actually IIRC they were pretty sure that they got moved to Syria, and there was a concerted effort to shut the information pipeline up after they crossed the border into Syria because no one was agitating for regime change in Syria at the time.
But...be that as it may. Finding a few missiles in the desert is a bit different from aggregating content from social networking sites and message boards. |

Bugger. I was going to try to do something profound with that post. I haven't had nearly enough alcohol to do that.
It's telling that Pastor Mike (that's what he likes to call himself: Pastor Mike) has now made his blog 'invitation only.' I guess being called a hateful bigot got wearisome after a while. |

I can see this working. What would be the purpose of this registry? All those radical atheists roaming the country, and you know who you are. Godless proselytizing I call it. Converting people under the threat of endless nothing.
So let's have a registry of people and their religious/political affiliations. You can add it to the electoral roll. Then you can compare their declared politcal affiliations with how they vote and send the FBI round to ask why they didn't vote that way. Knowing how people declare themselves on a census who's betting on a few more religions showing up? Jedi anyone? |

IMO, if we're going to start making Little Lists and all, I say we make a master list of all the Christians in the country, then break it down:
Catholics Protestants: these include the old mainline churches-Methodists, Lutherans, Episcopalians, Congregationalists, Baptists etc. Evangelicals: these are the mega-church folk I suppose Christians Who Don't Believe Catholics Are Christians etc Once we've sorted all THEM out, then we can start on the "fringe" religions: Jews Muslims Hindus Buddhists Mormons (joke!) Pagans/Wiccans/13 year old girls who are Sensitive And then, by process of elimination: Other: agnostics, lazy believers, atheists, your Uncle Joe etc. This would work for me. |

Do you not have a Census in the US? We do here in the UK, although I can't remember if the religion question is mandatory. It would certainly be possible to make it so, though.

We have a census. The religion question is on it, although it's voluntary if you wish to respond. I don't think they could make it mandatory without running up against that whole pesky first amendment thing; looks too much like the government taking a stance on religion.

Oh, that's right! The rest of you didn't fill out the census with the aid of a dart board. It's so unfortunate that so many folks don't know how to say 'None Of Your Fucking Business'. I'm a 37 year old Guatamalen refugee this time, I think.
Also, the census folks don't release identifying information to the general public. You can find out how many Christians there are in the country, but not who they are. For that you need to be a government spook. Last edited by Jaglavak; 4th September 2011 at 12:00 PM. |

When it comes to Christians, you generally don't need the CIA to find out who they are. They'll tell you whether you want to hear it or not.
