Bought a new truck and....

About 3 weeks ago, I was drivin to work when a teeny tiny pebble flew up and hit my windshield putting a chip in it dead center of where I look out. Annoyed the crap out of me every day. Then about a week ago I traded that truck in and was relieved to not have to see that chip anymore. The day after I got my new truck, I was driving down the same highway on my way to my nieces birthday party and wouldn't ya know it, smack! Another teeny tiny pebble popped up and put a chip in my spotless windsheild in the EXACT SAME SPOT as the old one. Fuck rocks.

Naturally, you are not going to provide any details about how bitchin the truck is, or what a screaming deal you got on it. Because you're mean that way.

PS - That windshield repair goop works a lot better if you get to it right away.

Your local auto glass shop can fix that for around $50. But if you wait till a crack runs it'll be too late and you'll need a new windshield.

This, and it's quite likely covered by your insurance without deductible. The last time this happened to me, the glass company co-ordinated everything with the insurance I didn't have to pay or worry about it.

I've seen it. You'd be disappointed. Or maybe not. But yeah, a pretty cool deal and everybody's happy, except the finance manager Turtles bent over the hood at the dealership. Damn, I am proud of that kid man

Coincidentally I used one of those windshield repair kits on my truck a couple days ago. It's your basic methyl methacrylate, better known as acrylic resin*. I followed the directions and it worked like a charm. A couple pointers:

The stuff cures from UV light, so you need to park it in direct sunlight for an hour or two. Sun breaks are a rare beast in these parts in early spring, so that took some planning.

You lay on a small square of UV transparent plastic for the final curing. Make sure you get all specks of lint and dust off that plastic or they'll be embedded in your patch.

*0.75 ml for $13. That works out to over $50,000 per gallon. Nice markup!

You can also use a UV lamp (Black Light).

I used to have one of those. Along with the mandatory Easy Rider poster of Dennis Hopper flipping off the rednecks.

I HATE that. We don't have an employee parking lot at the clinic, and we share with the local Aldi. My baby is less than 6 months old. A month after I bought the car, someone opened their door too hard, and now I have a .5" white dent in my otherwise pristine paint job.
