I have a feeling I'm going against the probable. I think I've just never found Mel Brooks all that funny. That's me I'm not saying he isn't. But I watched Young Frankenstein again and it just didn't hold up. Maybe through over-quoting. I no longer Neigh if someone says "Blucher!"

I saw YF a couple of months back, and I'm afraid Khampy's right: it does not wear well with repeated viewings. That said, except for the sequence where the day is repeated in a variety of clever ways, GD has little going for it, eventually morphing into a pedestrian romance.

Not a fan of Mel Brooks movies, I just don't find them all that funny.
Spaceballs was the best thing he did...it's very funny. Young Frankenstein is kinda sorta funny. It's funny-ish. I suffers from bouts of mild funniness. Blazing Saddles, though? Not funny at all. Outdated humor. Forced edgy-ness. History of the World? Too campy and stupid. And also unfunny. |
