You're not going to confuse the dopers with this. Once they learn that coffee is code for "operation planning" and figure out our code words for each of them, they will be on to us again. I suggest we change LHoD from muleplop to buttweasel. Skald can keep Smutbird for now. The other code names are still fine.

The snark thread MUST remain pure, but there's clearly a market for gossip mixed with chit-chat. I regressed to a very fratty version of myself over the weekend. I bit the bullet and bought a Switch and Super Mario Odyssey Saturday morning and did basically nothing until 10 pm Sunday but play Mario and drink beer.

It was very good.

Fondue is the only time I've been told by the staff that I was doing ~~ethnic~~ ~~exotic~~ food* wrong. Apparently we were dipping the meat into the bread fondue and vice versa and were none the wiser until the error of our newb ways got pointed out since everything tasted pretty good dipped in everything else.

*The only other time consumption-related was when a worker in the France pavilion at Epcot told me that other French people might be shocked when he saw me combine an entire wine flight into one glass. It actually tasted better that way in addition to being more convenient but I didn't tell him that for fear of actually offending him.

Have reconnected w/some old favorites from there here and on facebook, but there's still some I miss loads - kimstu and jodi for two. If I look hard through my old emails, I'm sure I can find a few more that I miss.

Cheese dip—okay, that makes sense.

My dad lives in Hot Springs (along with about a bazillion other old retired people) and I've spent a lot of time there. I've seen some strange stuff there, but no fondue. If a fondue set turned up at a yard sale, people wouldn't know what it was. But I'm sure there are are few outliers who make fondue at home with the shades pulled down.

I was lucky enough to have real, authentic fondue in Grindlewald, Switzerland.

And....

A) The fondue (actual emmentaler, kirshvasser, etc) was delicious

B) Too much of a good thing. The serving for two people was probably 3/4ths lb of cheese each My friend and I are hearty eaters, but this? We left about half of it because enough was too much

C) They serve it with....pickles. Mostly cucumber-type (eyuk. Cucumbers are the Devil's Penis of veggies) but also onion pickles and such. Pickles and cheese is simply not a happy combo. You can feel the pickles curdling the cheese in your stomach.
