Finding alternatives to YouTube.
Finding alternatives to YouTube.
Gentle folk at the Giraffe boards, greetings. Thank you to those who read this inquiry. A big Thank you to whose who are willing to provide a response that is germane to the question. I just looked into Curiosity Stream as an alternative to YouTube. I discovered that Curiosity Stream doesn't allow the use of a VPN. How they know if you are using a VPN is a different question. When I inquired as to the reason, Curiosity Stream replied that it had to do with the ability of a VPN to bypass Copywrite. If so, that’s entirely understandable. Note, It’s entirely possible that I misunderstood what the Curiosity Stream Chat representative typed. In addition to other personal security measures I run a VPN and consider that to be an integral part of my personal computer security measures, something that is so important to me that Curiosity Stream has become a non-viable option. I am rather tired of YouTube and would like to find alternatives that are VPN friendly. I don’t mind paying for such a service. Thank you once again to any of the Gentle folk at the Giraffe boards who provide an answer that is germane to the question. Respectfully yours, E1-Beard-02 |

I've used Vimeo and it works alright. Haven't delved into the library just yet so I can't testify to that. Some other alternatives to check out:

You are seriously considering Curiosity Stream as an alternative to Youtube? Have you even considered the possibility that you're comparing Apples to Classic Cars? It ain't Apples to Oranges, here. Those two aren't even in the same damn universe. You are a fucking idiot, and should consider licking lamp-posts. That will be about your mental abilities. Do it in the dead of winter and get your tongue stuck to a flagpole. It will probably improve the species.

Jaglavak,
Thank you for those references. There many I'd never heard of, I'll check 'em out. Re: Pixel, Yeah, I know I should not reply at all, it's just playing into Pixel's game. Who knows, Pixel may be correct in what he says about me. I know myself well enough that saying I have done dumb things does not trouble me. Therefor, Pixel can say what he likes, I don't need to pay any attention to them. Water off a ducks back, so to speak. Wishing you joy. Respectfully yours, E1-Beard-02 |

Gah, youtube did it again. First, they don't show the date of the vid, leaving cryptic 'a month ago' instead. Then they remove dislikes.
And now... what the actual ugh! Why can't I sort vids by oldest? Why can't a see a complete list of vids with dates and titles, maybe split into pages? Keep endlessly scrolling all day like a monkey? Really? Are you trying to erase memories? Kinda like 4chan - once it gets off front page it quickly fades into obscurity? Good luck finding anything from past years. If I need effing TV I know where to find it. Don't toss the user-made platform under advertiser's bus, okay? |
