Why are there no double patty chicken burgers?

Almost all fast food places have double, triple or even more beef/mystery meat patty burgers, but why no chicken?

Is it cost? Something to do with the physical make up of a chicken patty?

big chicken patties, like on chick fil a sandwich, wendys spicy chicken sandwich,

those would be too big to be doubled on i think

mcchicken is a small patty

I don't know why there's no double size. I never thought about it.

I would guess cost

Chicken burgers seem to have staked out the territory of the low fat low flavor alternative to a beef burger. Making a double out of a low cal option seems like it would be missing the point.

Also, with the new nutrition labeling laws, the junk food emporiums are in desperate need of something less than heart-stopping on the menu. You'd be amazed at how many triple bacon cheeseburgers you can hide behind a chicken burger.

I think it has more to do with the nature of the chicken patty. I can't think of a single place that makes their chicken sandwich with ground chicken. So the patties aren't of a consistent size or shape like they are with hamburger. Fast food burger patties are flat, circular and about 1/4" thick, so stacking them is easy and doesn't make the burger too thick to eat. Any two chicken filets I've ever been served would not stack well and would be too thick to comfortably eat. I'm sure it must have been tried somewhere, I just can't see it working well.

I would guess this is the answer in most cases. Chick-Fil-A sandwiches are certainly too asymmetrical to stack. Although the McChicken isn't made from "ground chicken", it is made of some kind of shaped or formed chicken to make them perfectly burger-sized each time.

Also, many items on McDonald's supposed "secret menu" are actually becoming "real things". It always seemed like one person "invented" the item and name, much like offensive sexual terms on Urban Dictionary. But people started posting them online, and they have become at least partially real. From what I've read, most McDonald's know what a Land-Sea-Air burger is and will make it for you. Same with the Big McChicken, which is a Big Mac, substituting chicken patties for bread. There's also something like the Chicken Mac, which is a Big Mac, but with chicken instead of beef.

I think there's no demand because nobody buys chicken for the flavor. You buy beef for the flavor, which comes from fat (cheese, beef, bacon, and sauce all have fat in 'em) but you buy chicken because it's low in fat. That's why they slather on fake grilled flavoring or deep-fry it or do something else to give it some real flavor.

Of course, if you ground up chicken meat with enough fat, it could molded into thin patties, too, so they could be stacked up with cheese, bacon, etc.

I note that in none of the pictures I could find was the fish on top. If it were tuna it certainly would be due to their buoyant properties.

I really like both, chicken & turkey burgers -- and you are right, other than finding a specialty burger place, I know of no chain that offers a double ground turkey/chicken sandwich. Which, of course, only makes the ones I cook at home that much better.

It's easy to find the patties and/or ground turkey/chicken at the super.

Many (or some, anyway) places offer a turkey burger, if a ground meat patty is what you want. A little-known fact is that you can order any combination of products a store carries and they will be able to ring it up for you, even if it's not an official menu item.

So, you can say "Can I get a double turkey burger?" or "Can I get a burger with one beef patty and one turkey patty?" or even "Can you stack a burger, a spicy chicken patty, a fish filet, and eight pieces of bacon between two bottom buns?" and they can do it. It will cost you for the extras, but they can do it. Just remember to say "Please."

Incidentally, Hardee's has a new burger that has a hot dog and potato chips on it.

Potato chips are actually great on burgers. Crunchy. I wouldn't be interested in a hot dog per se, but I've had a burger with sausage on it and it was pretty good. It also had an egg and bacon on it so it was like a full breakfast in burger form!

Double chicken "burger"? Why push one's luck - suckering people into thinking chicken is a fit "burger" patty is pushing it - why risk causing them to compare chicken v real meat yet again?

And - back when the person running the register knew the products, you could get custom products.
Then the "Cash Register" was replaced with a "Point of Sale Terminal" and idiots were hired to run them - if there isn't a button for it, they can't sell it.

But they won't be available to the public for six weeks though, because the poison control center bought them all as a quick way to induce vomiting.
