Are there any group(s) of people that you just don't get along with? Age? Race? Location? Occupation? etc.

Black women: They be hatin'! Black chicks like to have an attitude with me. Black women who are my friends and black women who are strangers. There's constant tension between me and my black girlfriends. Out in public, there are random black women who act hostile to me. This afternoon I was at Ponderosa and as I reached for some taters, I glanced at this black chick next to me. She snapped her neck back and cocked her head to the side and said "whatever!" Okaaaaay???

Lesbians: Just about every lesbian I meet, eventually becomes an enemy.

Old White People: Got damn it! Who pissed in old white people's Cheerios? Like 90% of all customer complaints and phone calls to cops come from old white people! They watch me like a hawk in my neighborhood and when I play blackjack at casinos. If I'm doing something a little inappropriate they will not hesitate to bitch, instead of sticking to their own business.

Example 2: A friend of mine keeps sending stuff about what Republicans do vs. what Democrats do, for instance if Democrats don't want you to do something they will pass a law against it for you. Okay, they will. The example here was guns (natch). (This friend does not even like guns, but oh well.)

Okay, Republicans never do that, right? They never, ever pass laws keeping you from doing something you want. Nope. Or wait, unless it is really somethng you shouldn't want because it's bad bad bad. Like, say abortions.

Religious people. I don't know why, but a hell of a lot of my old friends have become super religious. In the sense that, for instance, their children get drawn into bad company, drugs, prison sentences, and then they get redeemed because "God is really working!"

Or Virginia was going in for a hip replacement and then she heard the voice of God saying don't have surgery! So she didn't, she went and did alternative shit for her hip, and how she's all fine, whereas if she'd ignored the voice of God she'd surely be dead now. (And with Jesus, y'know.)

The Indian customer service people. Oh man, who writes their scripts? "Thank you for calling, do not worry, we will solve your problem in no time." They keep saying this while it takes 45 minutes, an hour, two days. "Thank you for letting us solve your problem in no time." They say this even when it took for fucking ever, or when they didn't actually solve your problem. Spare me.

Okay, lesbians. I have no problem with lesbians. As long as I don't hire them to do something, we're fine. But when I do? They can't fucking perform. They just can't.

I had these friends who decided they wanted to be carpenters. I hired them to do a very simple carpentry job. First I thought they were never going to show up, but this is par for the course for any carpenter. Then they came and fucked up my door really bad, and then backed into the wall and made a dent in the drywall. I won't even go into the clusterfuck that replacing the drywall entailed.

Long ago I worked as a telephone installer. My group was The First Gals Ever To Be Telephone Installers, and we were shown on the news climbing poles and the like. A goodly percentage of us were lesbians. Most of the lesbians did not last. They bitched about the working conditions and about their coworkers and about the hours and about the fact that their bosses hated them (some of this was true). It became very clear that most of them only took the job to make some kind of political statement and they didn't expect it to be so harrrrrrddd. They formed a support group to sit around and drink and bitch about the hard job and the harassment. Most of them didn't last six months.

Okay well, neither did some of the straight girls. But for the most part, the dropouts were the lesbians.

Now a couple of them were okay, and did not quit or get fired. But really, it was not that hard a job. There was some hazing. Nothing too bad. I'm pretty sure they did that to everybody, lesbian or not.

And yeah, probably the ones who were outspoken lesbians may have had more hazing and more harassment.

My last ob/gyn was a lesbian and she screwed up bad. She had delivered thousands of babies but she couldn't deliver mine because she was having an emotional breakdown so her partner, who I had never met, had to do it. Also she failed to recognize that the kid was breech even though I said I strongly suspected that what I was feeling there was a head, not a butt. This was not my first kid. I know what a butt feels like. Now, it all came out all right (wait, could I blame her for everything wrong with my kid? Hey, I think I will. The others were delivered by nice competent MEN and they turned out great.)

Has anyone ever heard of a male doctor declining to function as a doctor because he was having an emotional moment? Doctors are supposed to wake up in the middle of the night, be wide awake, and show up. None of this "sorry I was having a bad night and I needed some wine."

Gay men on the other hand always come through. They perform beautifully whether they are doing your pedicure or fixing your plumbing. I don't know what it is about lesbians. They are just untrustworthy in the business world. They seem to feel life owes them something and they are not getting it. Because they are lesbians! So why even try!

I think the "group" of people I don't get along with are the diploma RNs who never went back to school to get their AD or BSN. These nurses tend to have gigantic chips on their shoulders. Statements like, "Well, I guess I'm not a REAL nurse?" said in very huffy tones usually are heard at least once per shift.

I don't hate them, but I do tend to roll my eyes when they start on this stuff.

You mean those dinosaurs aren't all extinct yet? I graduated in 1973 and we were told they would all be gone in the next year or so, there would be no diploma schools left. Same with LPNs & LVNs. I retired 13 years ago, wtf happened?

My wife was a three-year RN...is that what you mean by diploma nurse? She said when she did med-surg, BSN's rarely did patient care, focusing on admin duties. She hated that kind of work.

BSNs do pt care--I have a BSN. (I also hate admin work). Plenty of BSNs do direct care. According to some diploma nurses (yes, those are the now defunct 3 year programs), BSNs don't do as good a job because of all that high-falutin' learning that goes on.

Things have changed (you don't hear that so much anymore--it's more a huff "you don't think I'm a real nurse!" stuff when minimum degree entry is brought up. Um, no--that's not it: you'd be grandfathered in, like every other profession has done to its "originators").
Anyway, it's not the people I don't get along with, it's their attitude.

I started out as an ADN. Before that I was a medical corpsman in the USAF. I learned more nursing there than anywhere else.
I really didn't learn much real nursing in my second 2 years, except admin stuff.
I didn't make any more money for my BSN.

I guess it was actually just whiny nurses and nurses who couldn't or wouldn't do the best job possible that annoyed me.

Yes--that is the downside. Experience counts for almost nothing in nursing (salarywise). Sad but true.
