Yes, but expectopatronum posts on the Dope under the exact same name with the exact same style, and umpteen zillion posters both there and here have made the exact same complaint about her lack of capitalization, to the exact same effect (which is to say, none at all.)

I don't get why everyone who gets on her case about her posting style thinks that this time will be the time that will make her change something she obviously doesn't plan on changing.

Well, she does seem very concerned that Guin's "posting style hasn't evolved at all in all this time" or that "what i'd really like to see from you is some acknowledgement and maybe even an attempt to change a little". I'm not quite sure why she's unwilling to hold herself to the same standard. She seems aware of where the shift key is, and seems capable of using it on occasion. She's also apparently aware of how precious it makes her posts appear - so I just assume it's an attention ploy.

For the record I think this is the first time it's been addressed here. They've even given it up over there since I'm not a noob anymore.

Mainly it's stubbornness then wanting to prove a point (over there I mean) cause there's at least one long term poster who types the same way and I've never seen anyone get on her (?) case about it. Then I just carried it over here. So yeah.

it's the content of the post that matters. it makes no difference to me if she wants to use a lower case i as a pronoun, as long as she brings something to the table. nor does it bother me to see someone use an obvious sock name, as long as they contribute.

Fair enough, though I don't get why people get on Guin's case either.

Of course I've gotten shit from people when I raeg against txtspk or wall-of-text posts on other boards so there's just no pleasing the internet, I guess.

Very true. I've made that observation myself. Basically, despite how sure one is that their writing style is so unique that it will definitely be noticed, they're better off not changing anything when they are deploying a sock.

Yep. I had a bunch of socks on the dope (mid 00s, to get around the pay to post thing because I posted rarely and had better ways to spend the $14.99) and never tried to post with a different "voice." I didn't get found out until a couple years ago when I tried to log on as one of my socks and Marley caught me.

Perhaps they realize that that other person really is stupid and inconsiderate? Because that's what not using capitalization makes one look like. So someone might give you grief about it because you're making yourself look like something you're not, whereas that other person may simply be correctly putting forth who he or she really is.

I miss the Wild West days of the durp. I had several socks too, in the early 00's. Diamonds was just a sock, eventhough she became the most widely known out of all my personas.

Yeah, once I logged in under another sock just to do a few searches, and not to post anything. I was automatically banned after a minute or two.

I did some very quick research and saw that he started this thread in 2005 and "claimed" to be black then. I'd say that he's the real deal. That recent thread is, I think, in the same vein as Swift's A Modest Proposal.

Not necessarily, there are plenty of people who think that the various races shouldn't mix. In like the late 90s/early 00s, there was a bigot conference in, wait for it, Iran (I knew you'd be surprised), where the various bigwigs from bigot organizations got together to divvy up the world. The idea being that they'd each control their own area (thus allowing themselves to build up their numbers so they could wipe out the other groups, no doubt was the thinking). The conference was said to be rather remarkable, since you had so many people who hated one another in one spot, all agreeing on the same thing.
