Socks? No. They're like trolls who make me so mad. What's worse are the people who genuinely seem to be decent people, but, for some reason or another, have formed a grudge against you so large that nothing you do changes things. I will occasionally just get randomly pissed about one such person, even though I never see anything they say anymore and just post stuff that I know will upset them.

Socks are too much work. Tangled webs, lost in deceit, untruthy. They might be like characters in a book from a purely literary and fictional conceit. A little bit of kindling for some very sad people. But, they are not suitable to real discourse. People being clever and failing.

It's human nature to hold a grudge, and the internets allows such things to be eternal, sort of like family grudges. An emotional cripple might get a twinge of anger or even rage, seeing a familiar name a decade later, because somebody typed out something that hurt their feelings in 2002, or worse, challenged their belief system, and such affronts to an important person can never be forgiven.
It's why permabans exist. Never again, for all of eternity, can a person who typed out something on the internet ever be allowed to type out something again. It's that important. Hell, somebody convicted of manslaughter will eventually get out of prison. But you type out something that bothers a Mod? You will never ever, as in forever, under no circumstance be allowed to even be a user, ever again. Nothing, no amount of time, no circumstance, in fact aside from buying the forum, there is nothing in the entire Universe that will change that decision. Once an all powerful Mod has decided, they have more power than the high courts of a nation, they are all powerful in their world. It's why finding out somebody has been socking it up for years, mocking them, laughing at them, flaunting the decision, it's why it enrages them, why such things must never be discussed, because it makes a joke of their all powerful decisions. It undercuts their entire illusion of power, it's the worst thing ever. And of course, it's also funny as hell.
