Interesting, trump opposes voting by mail for November.

His staff tells him that he might be confusing his base into thinking they better not vote because it's fraudulent.

Trump reverses himself and thinks Florida should vote by mail.

Spinal reflex governing. Do now, think later.

Here's a good one:

At the last minute a Wisconsin lawyer files to put rapper Kanye West on the Wisconsin presidential ballot. As it happens, the lawyer aforesaid also has been representing the Trump campaign in Wisconsin. Hmmmm.

(That's one application I gotta see. Who's the running mate? More important, who are Mr. West's stated electors? A bunch of bald, fat white guys?)

Supposedly, the running mate is a preacher from Wyoming. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanye_...ntial_campaign

I just heard most of Trump's "four points" proposal. Shoot me now. Please. I can't take any more of this shit.

(On the positive side: twice now in the past few days I have heard him say "If I am re-elected." Sounds to me like even he has figured out that the chances of that happening are lower than a termite's dick.)

He's coming after Social Security and Medicare:
Quote:
President Trump pledged on Saturday to pursue a permanent cut to the payroll taxes that fund Social Security and Medicare if he wins reelection in November, a hard-to-accomplish political gambit that some experts see as a major headache for the future of the country’s entitlement programs.
I guess only "some" experts see that if you stop funding something, it goes away.

Here's what "some" experts have to say:
Quote:
n doing so, though, Trump would be embarking on a fraught process that could have catastrophic fiscal effects on programs including Social Security, which watchdogs recently have warned is in dire financial straits, expected next year to have costs that exceed its total incomes.

“By having a permanent cut, that immediately makes you ask the question on what’s going to happen on the benefits side,” Garrett Watson, a senior policy analyst at the Tax Foundation, said. “That would make it worse if you didn’t have a source of revenue to backfill [the cut].”

Shortly after Trump issued his directive, AARP raised a series of potential problems created by the president’s order, including for employers who have to track the deferred taxes and new economic anxieties for the nation’s retirees.

“Social Security is more crucial than ever as Americans face the one-two punch of the coronavirus’s health and economic consequences,” Nancy LeMond, the group’s executive vice president, said in a statement. “But, this approach exacerbates people’s already-heightened fears and concerns about their financial and retirement security.”
AARP is Shub-Voterroth, the Old Goat With A Multitude Of People Who Actually Get Out And Vote. It has the messaging, it has the funding, it has the people who have nothing better to do on a Tuesday.

That particularly disturbed me.

It's interesting how some of these jokers always speak of "payroll taxes", rather than say what they actually go to - Social Security and Medicare. It's like they're trying to hide something.

New York Times: White House reached out to South Dakota governor about adding Trump to Mount Rushmore

What a effing buffoon.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/09/polit...ota/index.html

Quote:
According to a person familiar who spoke with the Times, Noem then greeted Trump when he arrived in the state for his July Fourth celebrations at the monument with a four-foot replica of Mount Rushmore that included his face.

Noem has noted before Trump's "dream" to have his face on Mount Rushmore, the Coolidge-era sculpture that features the 60-foot-tall faces of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt.

Of course he does.

Let's compromise by putting Trump's mug on the three-dollar bill. Or, at least, one of those posters they used to hang in post offices.

She's smart, 55 years old, a woman of color. Her Senate seat won't go Republican.

I think it is a solid choice and will defuse some of the "Democratics will take your police protection away from the suburbs fear mongering" away.

I like Kamela, she was roughly 4th on my list for the Dem Presidential Nomination and I actually like her better than Warren but I like Warren being a progressive.

Uncle Donnie is losing marbles at a record pace. Read this, a trump quote.

Quote:
Trump claimed on Thursday that if Biden is elected, there would be "no fossil fuels, which means, basically, no energy," warned that cities would need to be rebuilt "because too much light gets through the windows ... let's rip down the Empire State Building," "no airplanes," few cars, and suggested: "They don't want to have cows, they don't want to have any form of animals."

I was actually going back to the way they handled Watergate and how some of the party (the Rockefeller or Moderate Republicans) did not like the southern strategy and were basically friendly to Green issues. Yes, by 1990 the party was pretty shaky and by 2000 the Dick Cheney's and Karl Rove's had finished subverting it.

Anyone else notice that Trump is having a particularly bad struggle with words this week? Twice in the space of thirty seconds he pronounced fatalities as fatilities. At the same time he couldn't read a number the same way twice; and he has had trouble reading other numbers. On one occasion he had a heck of a time keeping millions and billions straight. And then he says thing like, Biden is "going to give . . . massive tax increases". Give?

So I still think there is an excellent chance Trump will have a complete mental collapse by mid-October. It'll be nasty.

If your watching him now you're seeing a man who has no idea what's happening or what to do about it. He can't even focus on a topic for the time necessary to discuss it. He rambles. Even incoherently at times. Seriously, watch one of his "press conferences" when he gives one. He's losing it. And remember, he the one elected to decide when to blow up the world with nuclear weapons.

Blame the party who allows him to do this. Starting with Moscow Mitch.

Trump hops back on the birther wagon.

Quote:
Trump said, "I heard today that she doesn't meet the requirements." He referred to a lawyer who raised the issue in a Newsweek article, Chapman University professor John Eastman, as "very highly qualified."

Trump then said he has "no idea" whether it's true Harris doesn't meet the requirements. He then asked the reporter if she was saying Harris doesn't qualify because Harris "wasn't born in this country."
https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/13/polit...eck/index.html

Harris is a California girl.

Trump is totally clueless about what to do and when to do it.

I note also that his vision has gotten so bad that he doesn't even attempt to use a prompter any more. And, given all of his problems the past few weeks, I am now reasonably certain that his visit to Walter Reed recently was for medical reasons.

Trump has divulged a conversation He had with His only competition, the God of Abraham. I've colored The Almighty's words red.

Thursday, Trump will be ~20 miles from me, appearing at a not very big company that mostly sells kitchen/bath remodelling products. In PA, indoor gatherings are limited to 25 people and outdoor gatherings to 250, with masks and social distancing and we all know how diligent they are about those things. Even dedicated Trumpsuckers are finding themselves unable to get tickets and in fact neither the company in question or the Trump campaign are telling people how to get tickets. It's shaping up to be as half-assed as everything else Trumpy.

Me, I'm hoping for a meteorite strike.

The shitgibbon sets the stage for his attempt to initiate a civil war in November:

Trump Refused To Denounce The Preposterous QAnon Conspiracy Theory

President Donald Trump dodged a question on QAnon during a press conference Friday, refusing to denounce or reject the baseless far-right conspiracy theory that the FBI has said poses a domestic terror threat.

Meanwhile more Repug rats scamper up the dock lines:

This is hilarious. The USPS closed processing centers for a couple of cities in the middle of the state (Yakima and Wenatchee). This means all their mail collected locally will be trucked a couple of hours to Spokane, then local mail will be trucked back to the cities and delivered. Those areas are primarily straight redneck Republican. You'd think those would be the last places processing centers would close! He can't even be competent with his corruption.
